I did my canje in La Paz and used the MRG vetted facilitator. Went as smooth as silk. I cannot recommend enough to use a facilitator. I quickly learned when researching Mexico how out of date some info was. MRG was the best purchase i made in my move for current vetted info!!

Thank you. FYI, It took me more than 1 year to get an appointment at the Seattle Consulate. They are very busy. They are the only consulate for all of Washington and Alaska. I sent emails and a couple of polite follow-up emails. Once I finally got the invitation and the appointment date, everything I needed to do was clearly stated and easy enough to do on my own. I will be using a facilitator in Mexico for my next step.

Hi, Mariana: Thank you for this great video! I just got my VISA yesterday at the Consulate in San Francisco, CA. BUT, they are not doing VISAs there normally, I had to get my appointment through my Congressman. I contacted my Congressman because I could not get through to the SF Consulate, the Sacramento Consulate, and the San Jose Consulate. The web site/whatsapp was very problematic and I could only find appointments in Los Angeles or San Diego. It turns out they are steering all Northern California folks to Southern California. (Think of the expense of a plane ride, hotel, meals, just for an appointment.) So, that is a tip for cutting through the red tape, ask your elected official's office to help. PS. I just got a e-mail reply from the Sacramento office, and I will forward it to you via e-mail in case you want to include the info in your relocation guide. Now, back to your video!

One of the questions I was hoping you would answer but did not was whether once we get through the first part of the process and we go to Mexico to the immigration office to complete the second part of the process, do we actually need an address in Mexico? Assuming we're not ready to move their quite yet, we wouldn't have an address there but only be traveling for a vacation and to complete the temporary residence Visa process. Would you please clarify that? Another major question that was unclear was whether if you have a spouse, should you apply up front at the Mexican consul office in the US as a married couple or should you just apply as an individual and then add the spouse on the visit to Mexico after completing the visit in the immigration office and getting the card? How long in Mexico after obtaining the individual card would you have to budget to add the spouse?

I’ve been to Mexico several times in 2023 and the years prior and have the stamps. I qualify for RNE program, though due to the selling of my home taking longer, I may not get to Mexico until beginning of December, land border and will ask for 7 days. If I start my “regularization” in 2024 (as we don’t know if it will change next year)--if my application is still being processed over the new year, and the program is cancelled), would I still be considered since I started in 2024? Very Best, LMK😊

Thanks Mariana. I’m a US born citizen. I married a Mexican man who has all his legal papers from Mexico (all current). We’ve been married 40+ yrs & travel to Mexico City a couple times a year. I’d like to get legal residency in Mexico because we’d like to live there for awhile. If I love it, it may be permanent. We’re thinking of renting our house out in Texas, near the end of the year to rent somewhere in Toluca or Querétaro. So my question is…, on my next trip (example 1 week FMM) & I let it expire, while in Mexico would I need to make an appt in the Mexican embassy to request permanent residency (4 yrs)? Is that the best way?

Hello Marianna, I was not able to attend your live session yesterday but have watched it, thank you. Questions: 1. Do you have vetted immigration "facilitators" located in the Lake Chapala area you would recommend? I am in the middle of the Canje process and need to initiate the last step before Oct 1 2024. 2. I also believe you said once one has received the TRV from a consulate, one should go ahead and reach out to a "facilitator" now even though, for me, I won't arrive in Chapala until Sept 1 2024. Is this correct? Thanks.

4000 - 10000 pesos is a steal. The guy that does residencies for The Wandering Investor told me $200 for a q&a video call to answer initial questions, then $1300 USD for the residency service. They do subtract the $200 off the total if I would do the video call, but still its $1300 total. Why so high?

Hola, first week of June, I was in Bucerias, at the INM NAYARIT office. This is the same office that Mariana talks about at the 13:37 mark. My Mexican immigration lawyer helped me get my 3 yr renewed for $4,000 Pesos ~ $216 American. Was first inline, out by 10:30 a.m. with residence card in hand. Shouldn't cost more than few hundred dollars for the survice, try finding another facilitator

The same thing happened to me. I went to Mexico in 2018 and I do not have a stamp in my passport. It possible that the passport was electronically scanned only and not stamped. If you hire a facilitator, they can find out if your visit is on record in the Mexican immigration system or not.

If TR if going to expire in next 20days so can still get TR Extension..?
@MexicoRelocationGuide
@MexicoRelocationGuide 9 ай бұрын
Don't let your TR expire. You should plan to renew it. If you are in Mexico, you can start the renewal up to 30 days before. If you are not in Mexico, you have up to 55 days after it expires to still renew it. However, once you enter Mexico on an expired TR you have 5 days to start the process at INM

If you qualify for, apply for, and are granted TEMPORARY RESIDENCY visa in the Mexican Consulate at your US/Canada home city, you may then renew it for 4 consecutive years (with renewal fees each year) and then it transitions into a PERMANENT RESIDENCY visa. Not citizenship!
@firstlast1047
@firstlast1047 10 ай бұрын
@dannance3979 A small correction. The Mexican consulate/embassy in your home country grants a visa to apply in MX for Residente Temporal or Permanente. This is done with additional paperwork applying at a local INM (Instituto Nacional de Migración),Unless it has changed, this process must be initiated within 30 days of arriving in MX. The visa issued by the consulate also allows you to remain in MX as a tourist for 180 days...non extendable.
