With a love that was forged over the brakes on a 1992 Cadillac DeVille in high school shop class, Courtney and Dustin Frisk have made wrenching and driving a cornerstone of their car-loving marriage. Their wedding car was Courtney's 1973 Datsun 240Z, and the Japanese bug hasn't let go-Dustin owns a '72 Datsun 510 with an engine swap from a 240SX and a differential from a Subaru WRX STI. And while most couples' dinner chat is about the latest Netflix shows and updating the grocery list, the Frisks can't help but talk shop. Whether it's which new sway bars to buy or when they can next take a weekend joy ride to Skyline Drive high above California's Silicon Valley, Courtney and Dustin are living the romantic gearhead dream.

Cars that I thought were gorgeous when I was a lad, I still think so today. The Z is one such car as is the Celica Mk 1 liftback which is similar. Maybe one area where one's taste doesn't seem to change.

Skyline Dr. is one of the best places to drive your sports cars in Northern California!!. Stop at Alice's for a bite to eat and head down 84 to the coast.. Cruising thru the redwood groves on twisting banked roads is sooooooo much fun..!! I joined the Century Club years ago on my Ducati on Skyline drive.. Rt 9 to Rt 84 in 12 minutes..LOL Anyone remember all my modified Pontiac GTOs ?

Never had a 510 but I did come across a rough but good running 240Z when I was a kid and snapped it up for $500. Wish I had kept it but a guy chased me down and offered $3K on the spot. I still kind of regret selling that car and should buy another.

I have always loved Datsun/Nissan's. I could never afford a 240Z when I was a kid but now as a 65 year old I am in my 3rd year of owning a 2012 Nissan Maxima. Of course it is a long way from the basic road car the original Z was and is, but it is one of the few cars I have owned that makes me smile every time I drive it. Something all car guys and girls understand is that you know you are really connected to a car when you park it, but have to look back at it when you step away from it. I have two vintage Buicks I have this connection with and I have it with the Maxima as well. It's car I will probably never sell.

I had both generations: an apple green '72 510 and later a '78 510 hatchback. Unfortunetly, Datsun went then to a solid rear axle. Nice car but no way near the old car's handling... :-((

Marc René Yvon Yes I’ve heard that before, I was just a 14yr old ripping around a pasture so such things were not of concern.(-: I now own an ‘88 Pulsar NX & a ‘90 240SX, old Datsun’s & Nissan’s seem to provide just the right driving experience, personally I love them all!

True on the drifting morons who crashed all the 240SXs. I had one but I knew better than to try and drift it on the street. Need tons of mods to do that. Then some lady ran a stop sign and totalled it. Good car.
