As a pool cleaning business owner, I've been hoping to see you do one of these! Initial take from the early on, the pool route buying is a BAD route for growing your business. CAC for pool cleaning customers is so much less than the 6-12x monthly revenue. Already starting to see that he unfortunately allows customers to perceive him as just a "Pool guy" instead of "Pool Technician". He is struggling to lead people and come into his own as a business owner. This kid is pretty much exactly me from 5 years ago.... He needs to mature alot to get to $1m/year. I'm speaking as another person working to get there. In some ways hes definitely ahead of me, but I think he just needs to get more comfortable. Would love to connect with you Joe. If you read this man, I really empathize with you and in some ways you're crushing it, but I totally understand the isolation you feel. Hit me up if you want to connect with another pool business owner, who started young and was afraid of deciding anything too.

As a swimming pool company owner, definitely want to show your value through repair work. Better money for your time for sure. We don’t buy or sell routes here, but definitely possible to grow through CAC to 1m/year + We are over the 1m per year mark, biggest advice is don’t undervalue your services

TRUST yourself brother! Nothing worth doing is easy! It will never be the perfect time to take the risk. Building this business will build the confidence you’re lacking, the future you will thank you.

I like seeing these videos about the guys going from doing the labor to managing a crew. There's a lot of adjustment when doing this and no one on youtube is talking about how to make this shift.

I think he is confusing micro managing with managing. There's a big difference.
@Anthonyk7474 ай бұрын
Yeah I got the feeling that he "read about micro-managing," but never experienced it. Managing is where you are a Fixed Point - someone that the workers can rely on, someone that the workers can ask questions about, and someone that the workers can report problems to and know that you can handle them better than they can. But micro-managing is explaining, in detail, how to draw a cartoon using crayons as if they were 5 years old (it feels like that and nothing ends up getting done).

My guy needs some self confidence… Most likely has a ton of opinions in his ear… Slow down, enjoy and learn thru the process, market and sell, make a decision and stand by it.

@26:50 "I think it's still kind of important to see each other in person at least once or twice per week." No. Daily. You are the Owner. You are the Manager. You represent a Fixed Point in the Business. If the office assistant has a scheduling problem, then you're the one they'll ask. If the worker at a pool cleaning job encounters a disgruntled customer, then you're the one they'll call. If the worker is new and has a lot of questions, concerns, suggestions (ideas to shoot), etc., then you're the one they'll bring it to. Knowing where to find you, when you expect you, and knowing that they can rely on you is key and crucial to every business as a Manager or an Owner.

Paying 20k for 20 clients is asinine. It cost you money to do those jobs labour, fuel and materials. It might take 4 years to recoup that assuming customers even stay

Don’t get into debt to make money buy equipment and trucks you can use go used and fix them up and no leases better revenue. I do pools and we got it at auction use 30k mile. The truck doesn’t get u money u do and the truck is a tool. Logos and phone numbers and shirts get you leads just driving around. Door to door hangers google maps places with pools and put one on their door your labor is free might as well do cars and leave them one the windows at Home Depot. Faster is not always better

If you are 40 years old you are going to need at least 5 million dollars to retire. If you plan on retiring this year you will need at least 2 million dollars.4 more years of what we have now in Government these numbers will need to be adjusted upwards. This is from a current Financial officer.
