Every time I share about how close I feel the second coming is with friends and family, I get the response that they hope not or they aren't ready. I'm not sure why people are such in denial about this. I respond to them.. if you live today like it will happen tomorrow you won't have anything to worry about.

I will refer you to Elder Rasband's talk in April 2020. Although we don't know the exact time of Christ's return, Elder Rasband said, and I quote, "We are the people charged with ushering in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ". And, when President Nelson says that we're in the bottom half of the final inning, that has to mean something. When you have not one, but TWO Prophets, Seers, and Revelators talking like that, you know it's pretty serious. As the Lord said, out of the mouth of 2 or 3 witnesses shall my word be established. Something like that. Keep up the good work!

I always feel like it is important to be ready at any moment. You never know when he is going to appear or you are going to appear before him in the spirit world. On the other hand, we must not get tired, fall asleep and run out of oil because “the Lord delayeth his coming”. If we sprint to the finish line and don’t have enough energy to get to the very end that won’t do us any good either. We need to pace ourselves so that, if the Lord tarries until midnight, we will still have the energy to meet him. It is imminent! Let’s be prepared either way.

I recently got a call to teach early morning seminary, and last week we talked about prophets. I used an analogy of a GPS. Did you know a GPS needs at least 4 satellites to accurately give your location? The Lord has given us at least 4 spiritual satellites to guide us on our path: prophets, scriptures, commandments/covenants, and personal revelation. We can know we are going the right way when we align ourselves with all 4 of those spiritual satellites.

I didn't grow up in the church and, as a result, didn't even know about the Second Coming of Christ or the millennium. So it was quite a surprise for me to learn about it, about 2 years after becoming a member of the church. My mother-in-law taught me. I became very excited and have had the privilege of studying about it since. That was 45 years ago. But even that is a drop in the eternal bucket. Still, I feel an urgency like never before. If it doesn't happen in 50 years, I still won't lose my testimony, because I know He is coming and He keeps all His promises. But it would not surprise me at all if He comes tomorrow. Thanks, Jared. Add their names to the Temple rolls regularly. Pray for them daily. Ask the Lord to enlighten your mind, that you will know what is the best road forward. Keep the faith! Family from the other side will also be helping you. This has helped me enormously in the past, and although they haven't returned to the church, I've become very close to my younger daughters.

@@greentree_ To me it’s as simple as their spiritual eyes and ears aren’t opened yet. I had a very really experience in 2017 after the eclipse when I felt the scales fall from my eyes and I could see the imminence of the Second Coming. All worldly priorities took the back seat in an instant. But I had prayed for that enlightenment. Most, simply haven’t excersized the agency to come to such realizations that can only be made known through the Holy Ghost. They aren’t necessarily bad people, they are just preoccupied with worldly endeavors. Similar to the, “Many are called, but few are chosen” quote.

The Lord told me to have another baby at the age of 41 after He had told me to move to Jackson County, Missouri. In that baby's blessing last December, the same wording was used, that she was blessed to be born at a time when the Savior's return is imminent! He's coming! Hallelujah!

So I’m thinking pretty generous within 10 years, that’s how I do in my mind to be pleasantly surprised when things actually happen sooner, my hope is as soon as possible though.

For example in Alma 16:16 it says "the Lord did pour out his Spirit on all the face of the land to prepare the minds of the children of men, or to prepare their hearts to receive the word which should be taught among them at the time of his coming." And this was around 80 B.C. so Christ would not appear to them for at least another 100 years! Was their life expectancy that long back then? Captain Moroni died when he was 45 so I don't think their life expectancy was 100 years. So why would this verse be written like this, saying to prepare them for the time of his coming? Alma 39:16 says "And now, my son, this was the ministry unto which ye were called, to declare these glad tidings unto this people, to prepare their minds; or rather that salvation might come unto them, that they may prepare the minds of their children to hear the word at the time of his coming." That was written in 74 B.C. So the parents were actually the ones preparing their children for the time of his coming. So are we the parents or the children in 2024??? Who knows!

In the timeline of the history of the world imminent could mean 5 years or a hundred years. There are still a lot of revelations that still need to be fulfilled before his coming. Some examples are, Gospel taught to all the world, Christian nations reject gospel, Last day apostasy from church, Great persecution of the saints, missionaries called home, Jews build temple in Jerusalem, Great famine, Great scourge, Armageddon, Jews Accept Christ, etc.

And yet... could one look at all those things and say "that has already happened, that one is happening now, and that one can happen in a day"? The gospel is being taught throughout all the world, the world is rejecting it, we have apostasy throughout the church all the time, famine and wars, saints are always persecuted.... missionaries can come home in a weeks notice. The Lord can show up at BYU Jerusalem and personally dedicate it as a temple when he shows up... it absolutely could be 500 years away, and could also be "imminent" as in less than 5 years? Less than 1?

Also, many of those things could happen after His initial appearance, but before the last appearance. As Elder Holland has said, the Second Coming has been happening since the First Vision, so we're already 200 years in. It is a process! And things are really hastening/compressing now.

More recently when Spencer W Kimball visited NZ he said that the trees wouldn't be grown before Christs second coming. The trees grew to full size, then became so ugly they cut them down. These two were LDS prophets, what happened with the prophesy?

Funny that that specific line is not included in the transcription. I'd really like to know how those decisions are made. Is approval sought from the speaker? Is it up to some sort of managing editor? Did some employee think "Oh crap, we can't have something like THAT in black and white"? Or even "Well, he's just an emeritus Seventy. He doesn't have the authority to say it so we'll just scrub it." If that was the school doing that, are they trying to say the remark was uninspired? Or if Elder Groberg approved the change, is HE admitting that he just said it off the cuff and regrets saying it? Was he pressed on it and just relented because it's not worth an argument? It's a small thing, ultimately, but it just opens up so many questions about how the final transcription is created and why changes or omissions like that are made. I remember a BYU-Hawaii speech from Sheri Dew where she talked about attending some conference or meeting in which an apostle kept referring to the women as "mothers," or kept correcting a speaker to call the women "mothers," something like that. Sister Dew was offended but later admitted that the apostle was ultimately correct. She said that his approach "may have been" insensitive, but in the transcript it read that his approach "was" insensitive. Did someone take it upon themselves to make that change? Or did Sheri Dew think about it afterward and decide that it the apostle definitely was being insensitive?

It reminds me of President Holland's conference talk. In it's spoken format, I feel it heavily hints that he believes the Second Coming is very soon. But in the written format, it loses that emphasis. But I have heard that they submit their Conference talks several weeks in advance of delivering them - so that improvisation while he was speaking just came from his heart in that moment.

No one knows what the mark of the beast actually is. But some theories state that it’s symbolic of specific beliefs and actions. The mark of the beast is on the head (perhaps signifying a specific ideology or belief system) and on the hand (perhaps signifying actions that the individual takes) One who has the mark of the beast may simply mean believing in an evil ideology or false doctrine and then acting it out in the world. It could also be that the mark of the beast is fulfilled in multiple different ways. There’s definitely scriptural precedence for prophecies being fulfilled in multiple ways. It’s very possible that the mark of the beast has already been fulfilled in ways we’re not aware of. But it’s also possible that it hasn’t been fulfilled yet. Our role in this is to simply be ready and not procrastinate the day of our repentance- as well as to work to build the kingdom and gather Israel as best we can in our daily lives. 🙂
