Hisense models 75r6e3, 75r7070e2, etc. This 75 inch ROKU model will power on, the red light at the bottom flashes, but we have a totally black screen. In some cases you can see a very dim picture. If you hit a button on the remote you can probably still hear the clicking sound through the TV. So if your TV is on an Input you will have sound but no picture.
So what is happening in 99% of the case is these 75 inch hisense TV's need backlight replacements. How to tell for sure is if you put a flashlight up to the screen you can see the Home Screen or a picture.
This is a step by step TV repair tutorial on how to replace the backlight's on this model which is the Hisense 75R7070E2 model.

I think I said this before, if you have the room, get two tables end to end, and simply lift and move the screen over to the other table, I have heard about those suction cups letting loose, I don't see how, but I guess it can happen, then buh bye TV. I have salvaged many cracked screen TVs, good way to get a feel of how easy or hard things break. The diffuser isn't real easy to break, the screen is the most fragile. The polarizer films are flexible, more of PITA to handle but not easily damaged.

@@whereswaldowhereiswaldo3144How so? I see them used a lot, only problem I ever saw was one came loose and they dropped the screen. Personally I think the safest way is have two tables end to end, and slide the screen over onto a blanket using two people, lifting as little as possible. small screens are not such a big deal. 65 and up become kind of hairy.

I have the strips for the 75R6E3 which I discovered were different. I mentioned that in the Video. So I just fixed this one just to get it back to customer in the time frame I promised. Actually if you try to replace all the strips on this 75" Hisense, you risk tearing up the white background paper in different spots and no matter how good you try to tape it back, the TV picture looks like shii. I havent had any problems with previous 75" hisense with just replacing the one bad strip. Just turn the brightness level down to "Bright" or "Normal".

Hey as a mechanic I always would recommend replacing parts in hard to reach spots if I am already going in. Because just cause I replaced one part with 300,000 miles on it doesnt mean the other parts reset to 0. So my point and question here is with the other LEDs how long does a repair like this last? Like on a car certain parts I know absolutely should be replaced and some I am like lets just take it case by case. So as a 1st timer and not someone who will do this too often do you think i should just replace all the bulbs?

Well sob this is the same TV I just got, Hisense has become the new TCL for bad backlights. I'm seeing a LOT of bad backlights. "Hisense Roku TV" will show on the screen then it will go away and restart then show it again, so make sure you keep watching. The backlight set is about 30 bucks. BTW I tried a 58" Hisense yesterday, the backlight wire was red and black, the black was positive, red negative, it was even marked on the connector N and P so they will be backwards like you said.

@bigdog8882 Yes!! Thank you!! Actually did start the repair process earlier today and followed your video. I got to the part where I took all the small screws out of the outter bezel before flipping it over, but I had to stop there because I have it on just laying on the screen on 2 plastic horses and some thick Styrofoam as the "table." I was afraid to flip it over by myself because it is now really flimsy and I was afraid of cracking or shattering the screen. Also, I was afraid of damaging the boards on the back because those 4 metal "feet" weren't gunna hold it and the entire weight of the TV would have been on the boards. Soo, I stopped there for today, but I am making good progress and I only have you to thank for that!! Your video of showing and explaining everything you're doing as you do it have been nothing but a guided blessing!! I'm gunna continue to work on it not tomorrow, but Wednesday. I'll definitely keep you posted!! I hope you don't mind if I bother you if I come across any other questions? I'm sure I will..

When i put a light up to it like u did in the video, i dont see anything at all. Now, if i unplug the tv for about 15 or 20 mins and turn it back on, it work again, but usually only about half the time as it did before. I try the whole thing over again the next day, and it does the same thing. Would u say its a power or main board problem? Thanks for any help u can give me, in advance.

Is there any way to do this without a variable power supply? I've just been using my multimeter to try to measure resistance to find the burnt LED, but my readings are WILDLY inconsist for some reason. I'm beginning to wonder if there's some reason I'd get inconsistent readings from a single series of LEDs. I'm basically just tracing power, right? So I START at the beginning of the series, leaving a lead. With my other lead, I'm tracing power through each consecutive LED. I feel like I'm just making a rookie mistake somewhere that I'm just not noticing. I haven't done something like this in like five years and I wouldn't consider myself a professional.
@Emoneybags609

Use diode mode instead and touch the two points between the LEDs and if the LED lights up, it's good, if not then it's bad. Also you do this with no power running to the tv
@Emoneybags609

If multimeter doesn't have diode mode, use 2 AA battery's instead to test each LED. Could also use 3 9v battery's connected together to make 27v and test a whole strip of LEDS instead of one by one.

Guys, I tried these steps multiple times and it worked. Step 1 - Remove the power from the socket. Step 2 - Press the TV power button for 30 seconds (Not in remote, It should be on the TV) Step 3 - Connect the TV directly to the socket after 60 seconds and turn it on. If it doesn't work, try it for 3-4 times. Also, check the number of times the power light blinks, it indicates what cause the problem. My case, it was 3 times and after repeating the procedure it was 5 times. And the next time it went on. Good Luck guys 👍

this is a bad repair. the diodes should all be replaced or the tapes replaced with new ones. the only question is when will the next one stop working, did those diodes all work at the same time and they are all consumed at the same time. I speak from experience. very quickly you open that TV again.
