One of the most talked about places in John W. Robinson's book "The San Gabriels", the West Fork river. One tributary of the West Fork is the Bear Creek. This area used to be bear country until the turn of the century. There are trail camps along this creek. One historical site to visit is the Covina Outing Club cabin, although the cabin is not there anymore, the remnants of it is still very much visible. It is made of rocks and was built around 1906-1910 by seven businessmen from Covina as a base for hunting and fishing.
The group spent overnight and enjoyed much of our time just relaxing in our camp and sharing food. Thanks to all who participated especially to Joey & Lisa, Alan Jennifer & Stevie, Nanette, Josh and Steven. Such a cool crew.
