Robert Clive - known as Clive of India - was an untrained soldier yet a British General. He was largely responsible for British military supremacy on the sub-continent in the mid-18th century which, eventually led to India becoming a British colony. This is the story of how Clive defeated the French in India in order to establish British control. It includes his capture of Arcot, the relief of the Black Hole of Calcutta and his famous victory over the Nawab of Bengal at the Battle of Plassey.
