During WW2, 325 American soldiers, a platoon of German soldiers, Allied POWs from 5 different countries and Russian anti communist forces all worked together to move hundreds of horses out of Austria into Allied territory to keep the Russians from eating them. There were actually 2 battles between the pro- horse squad and the rudely anti horse SS. It also just so happened to be foaling season, and a lot of the horses were pregnant or had new born foals. It was called Operation Cowboy and is one of my favorite history facts to spring onto people

Another fun fact about this, I have GBS and eventhough reason why this illness happens is unknown, most scientists believe it may get triggered after a major infection. This means there is a possibility that the very same arrow that hit him probably caused an major infection to a point of his immune system got overstimulated and lost control 💀

3:48 additional fun fact : his wife and young son actually survived the second bomb thanks to him being injured in the first. When the bomb struck, the two of them were at a store, buying ointments for mr yamaguchis wounds and burns. The lady who was selling these led them to a safe area, if they didnt care about mr yamaguchi and stayed at home, they wouldve been crushed by the rubble of their broken house, which yamaguchi rushed over to after the initial explosion and pressumed they were dead in.

Extra Fun Fact: A French astronomer once tasked himself with solving the discrepancies in gravitational forces in the solar system observed by other astronomers of his time. Using nothing but maths, he determined that there had to be a massive planet much farther out in the solar system acting as an external gravitational force causing these oddities. When scientists were told to “look in this spot” they discovered Neptune. In other words, Neptune was discovered BEFORE it was first observed.

The Cap Trafalgar incident gets even more crazy. Apparently there was a British captain on shore leave who saw what was going down and wanted so badly to get involved that he commandeered a small fishing barge. Except it had no weapons. So he took an antique bronze mortar to use against the Cap Trafalgar. It didn't work.

The short lived anti-British sultan of Zanzibar proved during his short reign how he definitely did not deserve to be sultan. Fleeing the palace but forcing everyone, even the cleaning staff, to fight to the death, is definitely not a move of a good sultan. The British believed he was still in the palace, so they kept their focus entirely on it. Prolonging the conflict and causing needless casualties.

A MASSIVE helium reserve was just discovered in the Midwest, like 12% concentrated mixed with natural gas. We should hopefully be good enough to get mining operations on the moon or other parts of the solar system. Since it's a 'new' reserve, i think it's exempt from that weird WW2 law that forces helium to be cheap. (also if we can just get a superconductor wire coil that woks with with liquid nitrogen temps, we wouldn't need a tenth of the helium industries use. Liquid helium is like the only refrigerant cold enough for usable superconductors right now)
