Actually... Law got his money because of Yoshimitsu. In yoshimitsu’s ending, it was shown that Law was also in his ending Tekken 1 when Yoshimitsu was giving away the money that he got from Gangryu

I actually like Marshal Law's story in Tekken 4. It was important for his character development. Not every situation can be handled with comedic slapstick, and Law's story in Tekken 4 was a perfect example. It even gave him a strong reason to get back into fighting shape. Without the story, you would probably have a weaker story for Law. Tekken 4 didn't really do as great as Tekken 3, but story developments like Law are actually stronger than you think.

Marshal Law is the best fighter in this franchise, because he's based on a real fighter who performed real incredible feats. If they take his story seriously, he would have to be some sort of anti hero. He's always scavenging for money, maybe he could sabotage other players or con money out of the less than worthy like the Mishimas making him a target.

Can't really blame Law for having so much mix emotion. He has to pay his son his hospital bill, he lost his restaurant, he hasn't won the tournament, and his dojo is on its last legs while students are leaving which seems like it's his only income at the moment. The guy has a lot on his shoulder, makes me want a canon ending where he somehow made enough money or even win the tournament to at least pay off his son's debt.

Michelle!!! I don't know if its canon, but in Yoshimitsu's ending in Tekken 1, he steals a bunch of money (presumably from the Mishima Zaibatsu) and makes it rain on a small impoverished town. Marshal Law is one of the people that benefit from this and it could be how he got the money to build his dojo that we see in Tekken 2.

So yes story Forest is still injured, Marshall is still paying debts on his son's bill which was Paul's bike btw he got into an accident with, while students in his dojo leaving after the bankruptcy he wanted a teacher in his dojo which we see in his ending, problem is that the canon ending? Possible since we see both Paul and Law run from Lars in the stupid story senario campaign which destroyed most of the other characters "story"
