Correction : the picture I used for Temür at 02:16 actually depicts Öljei Temür (1379-1412) leader of the Northern Yuan. The ones I used as from 03:38 are however correct. Apologies!

Fantastic video, I've been using your content to better help my pronunciation of Mongolian and Chinese, so I'm really glad I found this channel. It seems problems plagued the Great Yuan since day one, from it's inability to stabilize it's finances to the conflicts between Mongols who adopted Ruism and the more conservative Mongol nobility, who rejected Chinese culture. I wonder how different things would be if the Mongols managed to do what the Manchus would centuries later, assuming it was possible. Could the Great Yuan have become a longer lasting Chinese dynasty, or was it doomed to fail from the start I wonder.
@History_of_China2 жыл бұрын
Glad you enjoyed! Please take my Mongolian pronunciation with a grain of salt, though ; it is definitely not as precise as my Chinese :) That's a good question! I think even if it had had a more harmonious system, the ethnic differences between rulers and subjects, and great natural disasters/terrible weather (snowfalls in the north, and droughts and floods in the south) of the late Yuan dynasty would have inevitably led to rebellions. It probably would have laster a few more years, if not decades, though!

The Yuan dynasty is one of history's biggest what-ifs. What if it managed to successfully intergrate all cultures and religions under its rule and sorted out its financial difficulties? What if its conquest of Japan, Khmer, and Java were successful? Would it still shut itself off from the world like later Ming and Qing dynasties did? Or would it be more open thanks to its contacts to the rest of the world through other Mongol khanates?

I always think it is necessary to clarify one point: Outer Mongolia, that is, Karka Mongolia, comes from the captured and surrendered non-Mongolian tribes. So it is called Outer Mongolia, which is a non-core vassal. Inner Mongolia is the core tribe of the Mongolian nation.
@ElBandito Жыл бұрын
It is called Outer Mongolia because it is outside the PRC. That's all there is to it. The Mongolian Republic is an independent country led by Mongolians. Inner Mongolia is a province of China, its people are a mix of Mongolians and Chinese. I dare say that Inner Mongolians have become more Chinese than true Mongolian, following each generation.
@siroyiryuu Жыл бұрын
@@ElBandito Another troll who sees his fantasies as history. Outer Mongolia was a slave tribe conquered by the Luo tribe led by the Golden Family. After the alliance between the core twelve tribes and the Qing Empire moved south to Inner Mongolia, these slaves occupied the Outer Mongolia region we abandoned. When handed over to them, the Outer Mongolia region was still a land of abundant water and grass, and now it has been turned into a desert by them. The reason why they became slaves is because of the despicable personality in their humble blood. In the past, these despicable people defected to the barbarian Ross and even gave up their language and history. Now they have the delusion of defecting to N*zi Germany and seizing land that does not belong to them.
@siroyiryuu Жыл бұрын
@@ElBandito Go to the barbarian Ross, and then kill all the bloodlines of the Golden Family, abandon Mongolian, switch to Ross script, and let the Ross people create a new set of history for themselves. This is the memory left by the barbaric tribes of Outer Mongolia. This hatred will never be forgotten.
