Excellent sound and rhymes ! Very romatic melodias, and I thought the British were not good at this type music. I was born in 1938 in the Canary Islands, and I still remember this type of music in the 40s.. Saludos desde Texas!!

"Pennies from Heaven" was a fantastic TV-series by Dennis Potter from BBC from the 70s, which included much of this brittish dance music from the 30s.

Very elegant and very British. I love it. Vera Lynn would have only been in her teens when she sang about Poor Little Angeline.

The recording technique had surely come a long way alredy in 1936. This sounds so clear and with such a full range. Real High Fidelity already in the 30s!

Yes, it had. Even by the late twenties, the sound was clear and wide range. Good condenser and ribbon microphones were being used, and the vacuum valve/tube amplifiers were excellent. The problem back then was in the medium (the limitations of the disc material) and in most reproducing players of the day. The heavy tone arms and incompliant steel needles ruined most copies. The problem for us today is in finding copies that have not been played or played very little.

Oh, no. It all happened in 1936. Things were starting to look up even though the Depression was still on. They knew there might be a war but were hoping it would somehow disappear. I was three and 1936 was fun.

Oh my word there were. I was only a toddler when these came out but, I can't remember hearing them on the radio. Not all, but most.

Spectacular set in sound to match! My favorite is Fox's "These Foolish Things,' but I also especially like the Ambrose, Mantavoni and Wilbur sides.
