No civilization has come up without any corruption and work-related injuries, remember that as well. England came up from looted wealth of other countries, USA used black people as slaves for economic profits in yesteryears. So Qatar has done that as well, Human Rights are just a recent thing that has come up after all the Western countries have flourished just to avoid the Asian and African countries to improve the it development.

@@mohammedfareed298 I never disputed that though I agree there are a lot of terrible things that countries in Europe and America and such have done and I understand the argument that it is trying to put down other countries but I dont believe thats a good enough excuse. The amount of money and power Qatar has is crazy but noone is saying that is wrong. Look at all the power China has. And I can talk about the US they are deplorable with their gun violence and corruption but its not like Qatar just watch this video and try to tell me a country in the West that is doing something that bad and yes some countries history has been worse at times but do we really want to start comparing why don't we just call out everyones wrongdoings. No-one is saying anything bad about other countries in the Middle East because they are not hosting the World Cup and thousand of people from many countries thats just what comes with the responsibility. When USA Mexico and Canada host in 2026 I hope they get scrutinised as much as they deserve whether thats not much or just as much as Qatar which I dont think is likely but I wont rule out because thats unfair and you just don't know what could happen. I agree that the Western media loves propoganda and warps issues as well so you have to take everything with a grain of salt but its been proven now just how dodgy the whole process of this World Cup was from so many sources. So I think it is more then fair to heavily scrutinise the whole process

Every year, tens of thousands of migrants from neighboring countries go there to work because they can make a lot more money that way and support their families back home. This has been going on for more than a decade and they keep doing this even to this day because they don't mind how difficult it is, as long as they make 5 to 10x the money they make at home. They would rather go to Qatar than Western countries that would not take them in for work in the first place. IF white people care so much about their working conditions, please take them in and help them instead. Oh, but you won't.

Well, we still have a lot of tournament to go. When these subjective measures are used to benefit a team in the later stages I don't think it will be so great. Just wait for a game in which Brazil/Argentina/France/etc (just examples, again, the tournament is just starting really) struggles late with a team pushing for a result and see how they add 1 minute of stoppage. Or the automated offside/VAR starts benefitting those same favorites. It has happened for almost 100 years, it will happen this WC
@ordetschmordet9227
@ordetschmordet9227 2 жыл бұрын
Time-wasting is more about disrupting the momentum of the attacking team rather than simply just running down the clock. As such, I suspect inferior teams will continue to do it whether the time is added at the end or not. The only difference is they'll get better at knowing how much time is remaining and be ready for it. I won't be surprised if some team is eventually able to cause 20 or 25 minutes of added time in matches.

Why do we need or want FIFA? I don't mean as in some kind of governing body for international football, I mean as in why do we need a huge multi-billion dollar corporation like FIFA in charge? Since the 90s I've seen a clear shift where FIFAs main focus has become promoting themselves and increasing their revenue, rather than doing what is best for the game, and are now mainly focused around selling contracts for coverage of the world cup, which is not surprising since they are now making billions of dollars like this. For me we've reached the stage where FIFA is not actually good for the sport, and wholesale change is needed. FIFA's complete control of the game has allowed them to leverage their position in a way not seen with governing bodies in other sports, or with FIFA as they were before the last 20-30 years.

Qatar is not going to change and after the world cup is over those foreign workers will go right on building thinks there with little to no rights or protections. I think FIFA needs to be overhauled. I know they say all the bad apples were removed but its the system itself that is rotten and needs to be reformed with more transparency in all aspects of the organization. In 2023 when the nest election for the FIFA president comes up they should turf out Gianni Infantino before he can do more damage to the game.

Iv seen a lot of people saying fans should respect the culture of Qatar. If you go on holiday tomorrow to Saudi. You absolutely need to respect the culture. When in Rome, do as the Romans do.. however. This is a WORLD CUP, this isn’t the Qatar cup. Qatar should have known the world is full of all different people with all different beliefs, sexual orientations, religious beliefs, etc. If Qatar didn’t want fans drinking. Or wearing rainbow hats, or talking about their problems. Then they shouldn’t have even tried to host the World Cup. And the fact they are hosting it. (Regardless of how) Qatar should respect the football culture and invite it as a whole in as guests.

In Qatar, government projects are awarded to big contractors - mostly managed by foreigners. They hire workers from overseas through agencies in south East Asian countries. The agency takes fees from the companies/contractors. As a result Contractors expect the workers to not work elsewhere once the workers arrive in Qatar. The government cannot control every single recruitment happening in the private sector - which is run by foreigners themselves. For decades, workers have been coming to Qatar from south east Asia willingly (nobody forces them on planes). The workers know that conditions in their countries (and in Europe) are worse than in Qatar. If the Europeans are sincere about those south East Asians, then they should hire them in Europe.

How much more goalpost moving are Qatar going to do? We can hold it in the summer in air-conditioned stadiums. Waits until it's realistically too late to change hosts, resulting in the first winter world cup. We'll sell alcohol in fan zones in and around the stadiums. Waits until two days before it starts before deciding the world cup will be dryer than a desert. We won't act in a discriminatory way to anything we consider un-natural. Bans rainbows. I could go on but if we can move the EURO's by a year, why don't we just void this and hold it next year?

Well the South African WC was played during our winter - and the Temps for a few games hit well below zero (Celsius - we're metric here). Yes this WC was corrupt, it is being played in the wrong country for many reasons, and Qatar was always going to renege on their promises. But this is hardly a surprise - nor was it a secret. The migrant workers issue was well known from Day 1. FIFA and all the FAs of the world had 12 years to rectify the issue - but did nothing. Now teams are resorting to virtue signalling to try and make matters right. My view is this - you (the FAs) did nothing when you should have; either do the decent thing and pull out or shut up and get on with it. PS - the world's poorest countries are generally in Sub Saharan Africa
