It's my favorite Zombies gun. The medium fire rate helps me control my ammo usage and the huge magazine (125 rounds, 150 pack a punched) makes it perfect as most of the deaths in Zombies are caused by reloading. What I don't like about the gun (and as stated in the video) is the slow reload speed, but using speed cola will make it much better.

@Arppis Absolutely. Most of the LMGs can be employed in a defensive role to great effect. The Stoner has slightly faster ADS and fire rate, so you can be a little more aggressive with it.

Nice :3 (To add, H&K later made few more HK21s for export use, and they're marked as HK21E(and soon after, the HK21A1, with different feeding mechanism). Other variants, such as the HK22E and HK23E,were also made to fit other calibers as well; 7.62x39mm and 5.56mm mainly).

@TheLlamaD I found I'd run out of ammunition quite frequently without Scavenger. There's also a psychological benefit - I'm happier wasting ammo spraying through walls (and potentially scoring kills) if I know I'm not likely to run out later.

Imo, the HK21 is the best lmg for run-and-gun gameplay, and Sleight of Hand Pro DOES make a massive difference in any firefight, especially when you've held down so long denying an area that the entire enemy team wants you out for a moment so they can begin a counter-steamroll. The other perks I have no contest against, Scavenger is a mobile unit's best perk, as it allows you to essentially have mock-infinite ammo.

This gun is an absolute laser beam. If you put ext mags, with scavenger, sleight of hand, and 10 sensitivity, you can destroy TDM. Not even shotguns will beat me, only a well hidden FAMAS user will.

It probably only works well in objective modes really. It fulfill its job well down as LMG to guard choke points but other than thag it is just average. For better survivability usually people will use Flak Jacket but it means they spawn with far less ammo. Overall it is very underpowered most of the time.

One of its worse weakness is the awkward reload time. Even the best players in the world cannot defend themselves with such a long reload animation. It is totally not worth to use Sleight of Hand over Hardened as bullet penetration is probably the best strength of slow firing heavy power weapons.

@saneidiot21 In every call of duty except black ops, LMGs had these strengths: 1)high ammo capacity 2) controllability and 3) no damage dropoff over range. Their weaknesses were 1) low mobility 2) low ADS 3) long reload times. Treyarch shat on the strengths and retained the weaknesses. You say the HK21 is meant to be used defensively. The fact is the ARs can be used to play defensively just as, if not more, effectively.

@Huhmasta I think hardened is almost useless but hardened pro reduces the flinch when shot, allowing you to retaliate mor effectively. The LMGs' sheer power allow you to win more blow for blow firefights. Therefore, if the range is right, you should be able to take out your opponent even if they get the first shot.

@2007RNC I'm certainly not as good as XA, but Flak Jacket is a fantastic perk choice especially if your playing an objective game type. The HK can mow down groups of enemies, and Flak can keep you covered from incoming grenades, RPGs, etc.

Use this on HCTM. It shoots slow enough that the recoil doesn't get me killed, but hits hard enough to kill anything at any range with a shot. Also use it because if I know someone is hiding behind a wall, just a short burst kills them, unlike the Commando, where I'll put 5 rounds into a guy behind a wall and them still be alive. I use it like an AR though, with Hardline, Slight of Hand, and Second Chance. Basically my teams intel guy with Spy, Counter, and Blackbird. Love em.

@Scous2497 Actually they take preparation rather than reflex/aiming skill. You have to get set-up somewhere long before the enemy does because if you try to run and gun with it you're going to be significantly slower than your enemy in every regard. Slower run, less sprint distance, slow reload, slow to bring up, and slow to ADS. You have to know how to position yourself on the map and play defensively, run and gunning with these just gets you killed.

If you're gonna use an LMG for camping, honestly the RPK and M60 are better. M60 has more ammo by default, and RPK can take Dual Mags. That makes both more suitable for Flak Jacket or Ghost instead of Scav.

@InsaneShadow90 not much except for the fact reflex has a bit more zoom than the red dot (not a very noticeable difference though). the reflex sort of obscures your view more than the red dot. Just stick to the red dot sight. if you're using the commando assault rifle the reflex makes the commando's recoil a little easier to handle. I hope this helps

that was awesome, but i have one problem, this is the hk 11e, the 21e was belt fed and had a longer barrel and less cumbersome iron sight.. you were right that they made variants of each rifle for belt and clip fed but the 21e was meant for belt fed ammunition and the 11e was made for clips... just to make this clear, this is the hk 11e

The HK21 is a beast of a gun. Though its an LMG, it GREAT for support and defensive play style.

With stopping power, the MG4 kills in the same amount of hits as the HK21; it has three times the ammo, less recoil, and better attachments. It is only worse in terms of reload, hardly a point worth arguing since even with extended mags the HK21 only has 60 rounds to the MG4's 100.

Well, the LMG's in BO2 already have the set magazines, with QBB and HAMR already coming with drum mags, and MK48 and LSAT with belt-fed. For the other weapons, I totally agree, but maybe the attention to this detail may distract from other details in-game.

I personally feel that Hardened Pro does not complement the rest of your chosen class traits. If aiming for a purely support role, coupled with the ability to lay down consistent, suppressing fire, Sleight of Hand would be more ideal, at least from my experience.

This was a really great video. I heartily concur with everything he says, basically. I use the M60 mostly, but the core tenets of what he says are the same for both guns. I use a sight on my M60, as I don't like its irons, but I think I'll give Hardened a try. He's quite right about the reloads, too. You don't need SoH, even with the M60. If you're playing defensive with it you'll be able to find time to reload safely. I prefer Flak Jacket over Scavenger with the M60.

@Seab22221 this is true and the best shotgun is by my opinion the Steakout because it has high damage and a good clip. Dont attach the grip the accurecy is just as good without you should take sleight of hand instead of steady aim!

Personally I prefer flak jacket over scavenger for a defensive role. In addition to tactical mask you won't have to move for any sort of grenades. If you use extended mags with the M60 you'll have all 200 bullets in one magazine so you won't have to move to reload either.
