What a beautiful ship! HMS Queen Elizabeth R08 (RN Flagship) and HMS Prince of Wales R09 are fantastic ships HMS Queen Elizabeth R08 weighs 65,000 tonnes when not fully capacitated and when fully capacitated she can weigh over 70,600 tonnes apart from HMS Prince of Wales R09 of course. HMS Prince of Wales R09 can weigh over 65,000 tonnes when not at full capacity and when at full capacity around 70,900 tonnes. Thats nearly 71,000 tonnes. This has something to do with her being a few ft longer and a few meters wider than her older sister. But both Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers has 3 Phalanx CIWS (Close In Weapons Systems) that can fire around 1,000 rounds per minute several GPMGs (General Purpose Machine Guns) located around both ships and an Anti-Aircraft Gun. They both have a maximum aircraft capacity of around 73 aircraft which includes the following: The Royal Navy Wildcat HM2 Anti-Submarine Warefare Helicopters, Royal Navy Merlin HM2 Anti-Submarine Warefare Helicopters, AH1 Apache Helicopters, Boeing CH47 Chinook Helicopters, RAF F35B Lightning IIs and other aircraft such as the US Marine Corps F35B Lightning IIs integrated with the RAF the V-22 Ospreys and the U.S Navy's Seahawk Helicopters and a wide range of other foreign Aircraft. The Queen Elizabeth Class Aircraft Carriers have a flight deck size of around 4 football pitches which should be enough space for all our Aircraft the hanger is a little smaller but it's massive. The Carriers each have a crew capacity of 700 and this is without the extra crew that come aboard during operations so the number can rise to well over 800 crew. These ships are truly wonderful ships an art of British Engineering at its finest. I can't wait to see the HMS Queen Elizabeth R08 and the CSG march towards the Pacific this year. The mighty Royal Navy is slowly growing back into a strong flexible navy again. The three Frigate class programmes will be fantastic additions to the Royal Navy Fleet. The Type 26 Frigate programme and the Type 31 and 32 Frigate programmes will be fine additions to the Fleet and all three classes will contribute to future Carrier Strike Group Operations providing HMS Queen Elizabeth R08 and HMS Prince of Wales R09 with that extra layer of protection along with other ships within the Strike Group. God Save Her Majesty's Royal Navy and for those who serve in Her Majesty's British Armed Forces. I can't wait to Join the Royal Navy Reserves and start my journey in the Royal Navy. 💪👍🇬🇧

@robertcook2572
@robertcook2572 3 жыл бұрын
The initial reason is because the main engines are installed separately to increase survivability and each one needs its own exhaust outlet. There are many consequent advantages: better deck layout and less turbulence being just two.

The harbour entrance channel that she can use is very narrow and confined due to her deep draft. It had to be specially dredged for her and POW so they keep the tugs attached until it is well clear of the harbour channels.

The F35B Lightning IIs as the gentleman above Kim said are kept at RAF Marham. The RAF keep them there for maintenance and of course to train before joining the HMS Queen Elizabeth R08 on operations overseas. So atm before HMS Queen Elizabeth R08 sets sail from Portsmouth this month for her first operational deployment to the Pacific Ocean. She'll be prepped up before departing this can be a lengthy process of filling the Ship with supplies and of course her 700 strong crew members. The F35B Lightning IIs will then fly from RAF Marham to the Carrier (once she's left port and is of large distance from port) to take part In her deployment. HMS Queen Elizabeth will not be alone as she'll be deploying with the US, Australia, Japan and the Netherlands as part of a Carrier Strike Group. This deployment or the aims of the deployment is to decrease tensions within the Pacific Ocean area and stop China from claiming land and stop ships passing through the Pacific (Because China are delusional and think they own the Pacific when they don't) so that's what's happening atm she'll be embarking the Royal Navy Wildcat HM2 Anti-Submarine Warefare Helicopters and the Royal Navy Merlin HM2 Anti-Submarine Warefare Helicopters aswell as F35B Lightning IIs of course. The Royal Navy has got quite the busy schedule this month. But may God Save Her Majesty's Royal Navy and those men and women who serve in the British Armed Forces. 💪🇬🇧🇺🇸🇯🇵🇳🇱💪👍

It is not the French flag. It is international flag code H (Hotel) indicating she has a harbour piloy on board. It is being flown just aft of some sort of fixture which is black, and at a quick glance looks part of the flag, but isn't. Flag code T - Tango warning other vessels to keep clear, is often mistaken for the French flag, but the colour sequence is reversed. When flown with number pennants it is used to indicate local time.
