He was an amateur compared to some officers that I encountered, in the US Army. O-1s were the worst. I was assigned to mission critical duty. so I didn't put up with their crap. I told off a new 'butter bar' immediately after his class graduated. the stupid SOB ordered me to drop a large, steel cased video monitor, to get his first salute from an enlisted. I was yelling so loud at him that the full colonel who had pinned him came running. I explained what he had done, and I had just seven minutes left to get the monitor up into a control tower, or I would have to make a call to shut down the flight school, then another call to have the SOB sent to serve time at Ft Leavenworth for wasting the >million dollar a day cost to run that school. NEVER piss of an Army Engineer!! His OCS was 26 weeks, My school was three years, yet we were treated like cannon fodder by fools like him. I was offered OCS, while in Basic. I told the to shove it. I wouldn't be allowed to use my Electronics skills, as an officer.

I am extremely offended by the comments in the story about enlisted members and families in the military. My father was a Sargent in the army. We and the enlisted families we knew were nothing like the description of enlisted men and families we knew. There is a lot of discrimination in the military.
