one thing about hobby lobby that is also extremely suss to me is the lack of barcodes. Even if you told me Michael’s was run by Satan himself, I would still shop there over Hobby Lobby. Sadly, it isn't that deep, mostly just greed. The Learning Channel was bought by Discovery. At the time, they played similar shows. The Learning Channel started showing more reality type educational shows and crafting/hobby/DIY instruction shows. Never feel like you have to justify speaking about women’s rights and social injustice.😊
@alexia355210 күн бұрын
I’m really proud of you for talking about women’s reproductive rights. Thank you so much. I found it very interesting to learn that before a certain number of months, the neural activity seen in the fetus is only chaotic and disorganized, a similar kind of chaotic signaling that is seen in people who are declared medically brain-dead and thus no longer living and who are disconnected from respirators and life support machines. Because you can keep a body’s lungs pumping but it doesn’t mean anyone is home, it doesn’t mean there is a live, functioning brain there that can sustain independent life. A heart pumping is an electrical signal, it does not indicate sentience or consciousness. Fetuses show a heartbeat relatively early on, but look at its neural activity. When you are making secular laws and regulations to govern a populace that has religious freedom, aka the freedom to be or NOT be Christian, then you must found the laws made on physical evidence. There is no physical evidence that a sentient, conscious nervous system exists before X number of weeks. Add to that that it is considered medically unethical to demand that one individual donate their body or body parts to sustain the life of another human. It’s not ethical to snatch someone off the street and demand they donate their kidney function to someone suffering in the hospital. It’s not even considered ethical to utilize the body parts of dead people for organ donation unless that person opted in to be an organ donor when they were still living. They’re dead now. They’re incapable of having emotions about where their corneas go. Yet we respect the bodily autonomy of dead people more than we do that of living women. That’s not okay. And regarding late-term abortion - it’s triage. Someone is going to severely suffer or die, and it makes ZERO sense to leave an orphan with no one to nurture it as opposed to a fully grown human. That would be demanding suffering occur. Babies need nurturing, they suffer when they don’t have their mothers. So many late-term abortions are desperately wanted pregnancies. There are cases where the baby was born, died two hours later, and the mother WHO ALREADY HAD KIDS passed away on the table and now those kids have to live the rest of their lives without their mother. As long as it’s legally mandatory for a woman to be forced to donate the use of her organs, all of us should have the right to point to any arbitrary human, including billionaires and senators and presidents, and demand the use of THEIR organs. Because it’s the exact same thing. Oh, they don’t consent? Boohoo. Or do you want roe v wade back now?

Haven't watched the video yet, but wanted to comment as a former employee. Back when I worked for them in the frame shop it was a nightmare. A nightmare so many were willing to try and put up with because they were one of the few places who paid $15/hr which was big at the time in my area. Claiming to be "family oriented" is also a big reason why so many people think it would be nice to work there. I loved my job in the frame shop as far as getting to help people find something pretty for the stuff they wanted framed. Hated what they would try and make us do to drain every last cent out of a person. I can't say it was like this at all locations, but at least at my story if a customer so much as mentioned the stolen artifacts and we were close enough by them, the store manager would threaten to terminate us. I lasted a little over a year before I told them where they could stick it. I still do custom framing jobs on the side and feel happy any time I find out I've taken business from that place. Will it do anything to their pocket book? No...but at least I know it is one less person getting screwed over.

I am so happy with this video! It's very well done, and an extremely important topic! Thank you!

Thinking about your comment on how if it was men, it would be available in vending machines. Didn't they discontinue a men's birth control medicine trial because of the side effects at some point? Where women have a page that folds out into the size of a US map of serious side effects but are told to just take it?

It's nuts to me that a non-religious, retail store can weave their specific religion so deeply into their policies. What about non-Christians? I live in a city w/ tons of my fellow Jewish people, for instance, and...none of this fits Jewish people, specifically. The sabbath for Jews is on Saturday. (Also, you are so gorgeous, Chelsea! Phew!)

Devout Jews do not work or drive during the sabbath. Mormons don’t work on Sundays It’s not that uncommon- they just scaled it effectively with their own beliefs which anyone is free to disagree with.

One of the things I've seen pointed out in the "he gets us" ads is that it's never the minorities or protestors in the place of Jesus washing feet, like it's saying "us white Christians are so good"

This is where Europe does something right? Because several places in europe and the middle east, and even asia will arrest the superiors responsible for shitty behavior and I never see that happen in the united states

We have a Hobby Lobby near me and I always glare at it. Maybe I should throw holy water on it 🤣

Watching this makes me want to get rich so I can donate to causes that are pro woman's rights, prochoice, pro LBGTQ+. I don't think I've ever stepped foot in a hobby lobby and now i definitely don't plan on it.

"Rights for me, but none for thee!" I totally forget which Bible verse that is. (Yes, I know NOT all Christians--but the owners of Hobby Lobby for certain.)

I should hate you because now our Christmas table will be just for 2 because I am so disturbed by the right-wing christian fundamentalists that I cannot be around my right-wing family. But no, I am thankful for the awareness

okay, it wasn't because of god, but Jo-Ann fabrics was also open! my roommate at the time worked there. they were able to get away with it because the fabrics and strings were used to make masks, so it was essential 🙄 so, yes we shouldn't let HL get away with being cuckoo but we also cant forget how many people were screwed over for corporate, non-religious reasons.
