hey Jo..I deleted my post on foils. if you look,at F1 foil design same principle as my blue prints from yrs ago...almost perpendicular from mast base as mine..cheers joyriders .. very good speed lads🎉

OMG ! Thanks to your front camera, and your perfect mastership on 25° list, we can clearly see the most secret feature of the Hobie strange hull's design : when the ship stands on the hull's external 'banana' face, it acts in fact a foil. You stand perfectly in equilibrium on it, the wake reduces drastically... and the speed... wow !!

Hey Joe, great footage. Quick question from a monohull sailor and windsurfer (so don't know if this applies to cats) - that jib luff looked very loose, is that intentional or just a thing on these rigs?

Yes, on a boat like a Hobie 16 we loosen the jib halyard and thus the rig tension to allow the mast to fall away to leeward to help lose power

I think with good rudders we'd have been 24+ It's like having the breaks on. I'll try again to adjust it.

@@JoyriderTV mast rotation is the same principle as leading edge slats on a jet. Increases camber during take off and landing which is like pointing high into the wind .

I’ve sailed my 16’ Cat in those conditions it’s so scary it’s not fun, much rather sail in lighter winds.
