For me personally, I would love to see more interactivity in Hogwarts, more people to talk to, more things to see, would love something similar to the witcher 3 where overhearing a random conversation can lead to a little mini quest, or to discover something hidden. Also I wouldn't be opposed to some procedural quests or just more stuff to do after finishing the main story, don't need like a whole other secondary main quest or anything just something that will bring me back every now and then, and also an explorable Diagon Alley was something I was missing.

Same. Smaller world scope to help "flesh out" the castle more and they'd be able to expand the world size in a sequel. As it stands, they're kind of in a corner about the castle now.

I have a 13600k and a 3070 (not the best pc I know) but i should be able to play hogwarts, i pre ordered the game and still can't play it 2 years later due to stuttering, no from drops..just stuttering

It befuddles met that these companies will spend all this money and have all of these connections, but they won't hire writers who read or watched the original source material. If you're making a star wars show, I expect the writers to have watched star wars. Same with Harry Potter, though with that I'd rather someone who read the books since thats the SOURCE of the original story. There are so many writers who have seen those films and read those books but they either don't get hired or they DO get hired and then let go like the guy who wrote the original obi wan script, who then had his script mutilated and contorted into something nobody really liked in the end, while he wasn't even attached to the project.

I am very fond of the Harry Potter book series, I practically devoured the books once I got my hands on them as a 17-year-old (36 now), read them multiple times, even backwards (not actually backwards, just starting from the last book and finishing with the first), and I still have the last 4 on my headboard, even though I haven't actually read them for years now... so it makes me very concerned that a main writer for the upcoming series never even read them once... J.K. should step on this one.

Only issue with hogwarts legacy was that it felt like a theme park ride with a story that was too afraid to ask you for the time of day. On the secondly annoyance was why did harry potter need a loot based gear system?

I'm more worried about the player dropping the game after buying it, going by the achievements stats, not many bothered finishing nor reaching the middle part of the game, only a few players did, how are they gonna convinve players to spend money again after many didn't even bother with the game to the end? I'm very skeptic about the sequel having the same sales numbers

I wanted the first game to be smaller, just the school and surrounding grounds. That way the story would be made to force more interaction with the castle, and they'd have somewhere to go for a sequel (farther outside the ground like what we got). However, it would be brilliant if they were able to successfully interweave a video game narrative with a parallel TV series, especially one as beloved as HP.

I was also confused about this so called “collaboration” for the exact same reasons you were. WB/Discovery corporate & execs are already getting involved in a way that I was worried they’d do following the success of the first game. Corporate overreach never helps the creative process and just ends up getting in the way and the consumer ends up having to pay for it in the end, either with getting a worse product or having to pay real money to unlock more content that meant to be a “promo” of sorts for this new show (which shouldn’t even be getting made imo).

I think a lot of people forget that despite Rowling having major control with the film adaptations, there were many differences between the books and films that she approved of that give the films their own identity instead of being beat for beat remakes of the books. I theorize that’s essentially what the system the new writers for the show are going to be working under.

I have never even seen a book adaption change things from the source material for that’s changed the story for the better. The Witcher and Game of Thrones are the closest fantasy examples obviously but it’s the same everywhere

The best game that tied in to a series was Lord of the Rings: The Third Age. The player's story ran parallel to the main story and you were able to assist the main characters behind the scenes and sometimes allowed to fight side by side in some of the big battles. In between chapters, Gandalf narrates the events of the movies so it's easy to follow the main story and how your own story fits in.

It could be that ancient magic could be a problem at Hogwarts while Harry Potter is already in the school and we simply play a different character. But I think that would be boring. We either continue with the story from the first game or we do something completely different

There was a Lord of the Ring the third age game that was similar to your idea. It was basically made up side characters going thru the plot of the movies at the same time. A game with the founders of Hogwarts could be cool with Godrick Gryffindor and Salazar Slytherin

The biggest problem a sequel to this specific game has, I think, is that it's pretty much forced to take place in the exact same place. One of the main appeals of sequels (for me, anyway), is that they offer a new world to explore. This is Hogwarts: The setting's in the name. I've already explored the (absolutely superbly created) castle. I don't see a sequel offering all that much of interest.

I guess they could do like a xenoverse kind of story, that you are in the future and some wizard is trying to change the past and so you have to go to the school and help harry. Is not a new ideia but it might be good if they did it well. Our player would just be an extra student that joins harry group and helps him.

A related question, last year a multitude of games journalists condemned and boycotted Hogwarts and the result of all that hot air was zero negative effect on the games sales, why do you think that is? Is it the case that far fewer people than we actually realise read games journalists articles, or that they have lost most of their influence so while people heard them yelling no one took it seriously, did people hear what they had to say, considered their own point of view and made an actual educated decision, or was it simply that people didn't care about the issues being championed and bought the fun wizard game. I would like to think that games journalism would have taken what happened and their seeming lack of standing in modern gaming culture on board, maybe changed their ways and tried to reconnect with the market once again, but the china hit piece done via Black Myth Wukong shows that at least for some, nothing has changed but the volume of the arguments and the dwindling of readers.

I hope it runs properly on current day hardware, not hardware of 2030 hl still runs terribly even on a top of the line system. They have made major improvements, but it still drops from 70 fps to 40fps in the school while just paning the camera. On a 4090 7800x3d.

Honestly, if they kept the same feeling of the movies, kept it safe, and did not play identity politics with it, a 100% faithful adaptation of the books would be pretty nice. The movies are great popcorn flicks, but past the third one (and arguably it, too), the movies started cutting big chunks out that really made it worse. Half-Blood Prince suffered the worst. Speaking of a Hogwarts 2, if it makes you play as Harry going through the years or "what if you were the boy who lived", I can see how that ties into the show. The "live ops" bit could be like DLC expansions, which add each year as a new expansion. A good way to finally get the full Hogwart experience that the first game couldn't do due to constraints.

I didn't buy the first Hogwarts game, because they didn't even have Quidditch. I'm not saying Quidditch was the only thing missing from the game. I'm saying lacking such a core aspect of that universe was clearly indicative of a larger problem. How are you going to make a game about the J.K. Rowling wizarding world, but you don't include the biggest sport in their universe? Maybe because your game ultimately isn't that good?

I simply disagree that wanting to make some change = bad. Harry Potter is a story for kids, especially the firsts books. And JKR is nowhere the genius that Tolkien was. Yes, she created an intersting world, which rightfully give here full control over what story is told with it, but it doesn't make her the berst person to write those stories. There are MANY narrative problems with the HP serie. For instance, 'Slytherin = bad kids & Griffindor = main characters, other houses basically doesn't exists'. Mosts of the characters don't actually match the reported strengths of their houses (why is Neville in Griff ??), JKR just needed it to be simple for kids to know who the main characters and mean kids where. I would absolutly love to see a HP show that rewrite some of those choices. No 'modern' SJW bull***t, just add an intersting Slytherin character that is not stupid/evil for example. Show what each house is really all about.

You should cause not only is this freaking HBO but they have Francesca Gardiner (from HBO’s “Succession”) as showrunner and executive producer, and Mark Mylod (from HBO’s “Succession,” “Game of Thrones” and “The Last of Us”) as executive producer and director of multiple episodes of the upcoming original Harry Potter series.. So its in good hands. I dont give a single fuck if they change the skin color of Hermoine aslong as they do a great fucking show my guy.
