Very interesting mate. Great to hear from somebody that appreciates the logistical nightmare that is large scale manufacturing. As you say, a massive amount of parts - all delivered to the right spot on the production line, at exactly the right time to ensure the line never stopped.. The principals of Kaizen (continuous improvement) and Kanban (just in time, lean manufacturing) systems are really amazing. I worked at holden for years, 13 of them, leaving at the end of the VE production. Today working in software engineering and the same principals that were the bread and butter of automotive manufacturing are being taught through software engineering, and IT in general... funny stuff really.

I'll respectfully disagree with you mate. I have a 2013 VF SV6, yes there is some complex electronics but its simple compared to a Mercedes Benz or BMW and more importantly 9 years and 163,000 KM later my car has been totally reliable with virtually no glitches electronic or mechanical. My mechanic loves working on them and says they are not that hard to work on if you understand modern vehicle ECU's OBD2, etc. The presenter here is right the VF's build quality is truly world class brilliant as good or even better than some of the worlds prestige badge brands. I'm so thankful I got mine when i did will never part with it.
