These movies came out when I was 10, 14, and 19 years old. I grew up with this trilogy, I was the perfect target market. I feel blessed that such an incredible trilogy exists, handled with such care and creativity. I absolutely cried in the theater by the end of this movie. Seriously well done, the music just takes each scene to a whole new emotional level.

It's kinda funny how you were talking about the differences/similarities between Stitch and Toothless. Chris Sanders who created and voiced Stitch and was responsible for the Art stly of the Lilo and Stitch Movie actually worked on HTTYD. ( Dean Deblois who also was the Director for Lilo & Stitch also directed all of the HTTYD movies. Chris was the director and screenplay writer for How to Train Your Dragon and the executive producer of How to Train Your Dragon 2 and How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World). Chris had some input into the character's final look.

The drastic change in Toothless is what made the movies so successful, book Toothless is a green dragon with red inlay wings and a pale almost translucent belly, he's also described as being about the size of a "naughty Dachshund or Jack Russell terror" movie toothless (to the direct opposite) is alot more cat inspired, going with the original is a funny thought tho, but for sure they made the right move in changing him 😂

This movie focuses back on the most important relationship of the series Hiccup and Toothless
@GrapeFlavoredAntifreeze8 ай бұрын
I actually disagree pretty heavily with that. I think this movie focuses back on the most important relationship in the franchise, no doubt about that, but I think the whole point of this movie is to show that Hiccup does not need toothless to be strong, the strength was there the whole time, and who REALLY helped him unlock it was actually Astrid. The movie actually recenters around the relationship that makes the whole franchise work in the first place, which in my opinion the failure to do that is why I think 2 is the weakest of the trilogy, though I still love it. How to Train Your Dragon is at its strongest when Hiccup and Astrid are at their most mutually cohesive. The closer they are, the more the franchise just works. THEY are the franchise. Toothless is amazing but his cuteness kinda creates a bias about his character that he contributes more to the beating heart and soul of the franchise than he actually does. Yeah he makes our heart melt when we see him acting like a puppy dog, but its not his character that connects my soul to HTTYD. Its the developing life partnership between Hiccup and Astrid, and the way they use and communicate their differences to help build eachother into better people, and form something that in whole exceeds the sum of its parts. The title How to Train Your Dragon for me has always been an idiom finding what it is in life that makes you want to be the best person you can be, and building a life that you can be proud of when you look back on it at an old age. Its about training yourself for your life. And in my opinion, never has this concept been better explored than in the life that Hiccup and Astrid choose to share together. When you examine the franchise with a truly intricate eye, it all becomes clear. It is THEIR story.

3:14 so true! It would make sense with how many people love it! My only problem with the 3rd movie is Valka and Snotlout. Like EW. It's just wrong! Valka also implies Eret is all braun and no brain while Snotlout has some brains yet everything shows otherwise.Aside from that amazing movie. Great conclusion although bittersweet. The bad guy amazing. It's a great parallel to Hiccup. Grimmel is who Hiccup could've been if he killed Toothless and brought him to Stoic. Also they did really good with designing the hidden world. It's very beautiful. Each section there's a place for each type of Dragon. 27:46 You so could Holden! Or even Stoic! Although he'd be more difficult.

I have never seen Jen cry before during a reaction; not when the puppy from John died, not when Bumblebee got his ass beaten, but here with Toothless and Hiccup reunited after years finally did it😊 But what is Holden's bar? I have never seen the man cry during a movie. EVER. All he does is crack jokes when it gets too serious (which I kinda hate now, not gonna lie), except during Prince of Egypt. What movie could move him to that level, if not even Spider-Man 2 could do that?

You just have to watch a TV series about dragons, not only because of the awesome connection with the second part and the explanation of some things (like Stoick's dragon and Hiccup's sword) but also because of the plot in principle. They dive deeper into what happened on that 5 year gap between the first film and this. They expand on Hiccup and Astrid's relationship, Hiccup and his dad, as well as flesh out the rest of the gang, and how Berk adapted to living with dragons. You should also watch the Gift of the Night Fury holiday special because the events of that are referenced in the third film. And if you like watching Astrid and Hiccup's relationship develop (since when have they been engaged, for example) then you just won’t be able to stop watching this series))))

This is my favorite trilogy of all time, I don"t know if you realized the different kind of enemy in this one, this was dark Hiccup basically, Grimmel was basically what Hiccup would have become if he had killed Toothless the day he found him, you can see that they're both skinny and are smarter than everyone around them, I loved that contrast and basically two sides of the same coin. The ending is by far one of the best of any movie, like Holden said so many movies are open ended with the intention of maybe doing one more, but with this one is like they had a plan from the beginning and it was the perfect closure, Jen I was crying super hard in the theater so you are most definitely not alone. I've noticed he does this a lot, talks/makes jokes during emotional scenes in many of the things they react to (it's even worse when they do Friends react and Matt is even more obnoxious about it.) Could be it makes him uncomfortable for some weird reason, but it wouldn't kill him or make him seem less...manly if he allowed himself to tear up (or, heaven forbid, openly cry)

Hey, I would like to recommend link click! Its an underrated donghua (chinese animation) that made in China. The MCs are 2 boys with special abilities who work in a photograph shop, one of them can enter photograph to time travel while another guy can see through photographs of anything happened (kinda) and guide the guy in picture (there are some interesting rules for their "time travel" throughout the series). The stories are based off real scenarios in China and it has insane twists. I finished first season, I was emotionally damaged in most of the episodes. Characters (including side chars) 9/10, story 10/10, animations 10/10 (I rlly like the artstyle), songs 9/10 (especially OP and ED). The fact that im chinese and understanding the lyrics in soul crushing moments made me burst out in more tears. ED always make my heart stops for a beat whenever it starts bc this donghua loves to leave us on cliffhanger at the end of episodes 😂 I would love to see you and your wife's reactions!
