Keep in mind the difference between a swinging target able to deflect a massive amount of impact and sort of "bounce back", vs a static heavy target which has no choice but to absorb that kinetic energy or break.

Jose Gomez Wrong, the energy is turned in to heat and kinetic energy, these are wasted forces, Think of it like someone is pushing you backwards as hard as they can against your chest, if you're moving backwards it doesn't feel like a lot of pressure but if you then get trapped against a wall you're going to feel a lot of pressure on your chest, possibly rib fractures.

3:13 THAT Remington 700 is PURE ART. Beautiful color and classic lines. That's basically the mental picture in my brain when I hear the words "hunting rifle". Good job in shooting all those calibers. For the average Joe’s the 6.5 and the 7mm did a good job for the money. I would thought one of those 50’s would have pierced. Many because the target was floating , plus being nearly and inch thick might have reached the limit. Maybe if you made the target stationary that those larger rounds may go thru.

The inly reason the APIT and the black tip AP didnt penetrate is because the tarfet is not rigid the steel plate moving upon impact kinda worked, like a catchers mitten the red tip over silcwr paint is a armor piercing Incendiary tracer and will penetrate 21mm of hardened armor plating at 500meters in fact it penetrates better than the notoriouse black tip also if u pull that projectile and use a better grade powder such as hodgdons H50BMG about a 232gr charge it will put that round over 3000 fps and in return drive that penetrator through a little thicker than 21mm of hardened armor plating

The M903 50 Slap round or Saboted Light Armor Penetrator. Is a 3985 FPS projectile built for penetration against 3/4" Hardened Steel.

not all harden steels are the same. I'm sure SLAP will definitely not penetrate 3/4" AR500 out at 500 meters.

I look forward to you getting your hands on some 7.62 NATO depleted uranium rounds and seeing if they'll put a hole in it. I was surprised the explosive armor piercing didn't even deform the back of the target.

Short of a 20mm firing depleted uranium the odds of shooting through a 3/4” piece of AR500 steel at any distance is gonna be extremely difficult. If you can manage to acquire some .50 Cal SLAP rounds are your best hope. Just make sure they are safe for use in your Barrett.

Try using stationary target from the bottom instead of swinging target. I feel the bullets will penetrate better through a target that is firmly support from the bottom, top, and sides.

the fact that there is nothing behind that plate makes it hard for anything to penetrate. Also, I wish you’d scoot that go pro back some so we could see whats happening better. Aww man, you never checked your go pro through the taping? K always check mine just because I’ve missed stuff before thinking it was on, so now I make sure multiple times. It sure would have been cool to see what that $100 dollar bill looked like hitting the steel!

My vote is on a lighter grain 243 or 270 to put a hole in it. FMJ. .243 in the 55-65 grain range is gonna be moving fast as hell out of a long barrel, probably well over 3500 feet per second, and personally i've never looked into .270 speed testing, but it really surprised me too, what was it, almost 3200 fps, for a regular medium-grain hunting round? Try a lighter .270 grain as well. You could also try whatever the lightest .416 FMJ you can find might be? Lol
