Good afternoon Lydia. Oh lovely Ali has brought my dad to my mind today with all those things he is showing. All those carpentry tools were used by my father, he did wood work, especially cabinets for rich people. Loved the smelling of the glue, thinners and spray paint. He made beautiful things, today my daughter and son have them kept as relics. My dad died 28 years ago and my memories are of him in his workshop making these beautiful cabinets. Once we were able, my husband and I brought in a bi-weekly housekeeper for the inside and a lawn service for the outside. GAME CHANGER! We both work full-time, have active/busy children and both services are a lifesaver! I still set up my veg and flower garden every year mostly myself over a few weekends in spring, and the service helps with weekly weeding, and any small chores needed. So helpful and allows me to do the many other things to keep our lives “lifing”😂

Secondly to share, at our small horse farm we have a large battery clock outside the shed where you can see the time from the back yard, where you are working. This is because one can get lost in time in the back yard with a rake. Hence it is a great way to check time, without your writst watch getting full of mud and other stinky farm chores. Changing the clock batteries is a fun annual chore each spring. The clock is your life guard to the sea of time, great to have in the yard. Happliy, a clock with your shed is a great idea as I speak from experience. Glad to see you have a great looking clock! Shit work can be fun with the right tools. Best Wishes.

Arie the tool is an ANTIQUE SICKLE/SCYTHE It was used by farmers to cut wheat and grains. the small wooden piece is an antique SLED used to pull small children in the snow. I was born as raised in Huntington Beach California, a real foo foo shee shee beach community. I however, lived on a farm for a few years as a child in Iowa, a small farming state in the Midwest. The farm was full of antiques hundreds of years old. Both pieces are QUITE RARE. They are often hung up on the wall. I have also seen the sled used as a piece in a covered garden as the center for a floral arrangement/ bush etc. it’s a good idea to put some bees wax on several coats. This will help keep it safe if it is left outside.what an amazing piece to remember grandpa by. I had a similar sled, I would save it and use at Christmas, I would hang as a center piece on a small wall, like an entrance. Put fresh evergreens, baby’s breath, red berries, and of course some of your great Scottish ribbons. It will be the centerpiece of your welcome at Christmas, while giving you memories of your grandpa at a special, often hard time for those who loose loved ones. It will make you smile and think good thoughts.

No the file is not for sharpening knives. What you are thinking about is a steel which is smooth and has a shield at the end of the metal and the beginning of the handle. The curved knives I believe are called a scythe. My grandfather also was a carpenter and had the hand drill, the plane, etc. so fun to see them again.

I honestly don’t understand why people feel the need to complain when you are trying so hard .
