Sunken tubs and living rooms were popular in 1960's modern architecture. I never saw one during my childhood except in old movies. Good episode. I'd like to see more Holmes on Homes episodes. I enjoy them more than Holmes Inspection.

yeah, but usually they were made that way, called "Garden tubs" if I recall my old Sears catalogs right. This was like "garden tub on a budget" LOL

Nice looking family. The previous owners should not have been in the house during a viewing. There needs to be laws to protect prospective homeowners from home inspectors that do poor home inspections. Home inspectors definitely need to be held accountable for their inspections. Surprised no Frank, but Joe is awesome too.

Okay, I have a question. You filled all the holes in the garage. The electrical going into the main house has pipes with wires. What keeps the gas out of the house?

I think anybody that becomes a home inspector should have at least a couple years in the field of house building construction electrical plumbing etc before taking the home inspector course. I remember back in 2015 I took a home inspectors course and at that time I had about 22 or 23 years in the trades and I remember the instructor telling me that contractors make the worst home inspectors cuz we nitpick everything and the name of the school was C.A.T.S Home Inspection In Albany NY

good grief? Lol's I have a friend that is in real estate sales, and when it's slow I suggested to her that she could make $$ on the side by becoming a home inspector. The thought was so she could learn every facet of the business so when she is selling a house, she can actually see things that other agents are not going to recognize. Contractors make the BEST inspectors by far...

I feel like going with the home inspector recommended by the realtor or sellers is usually a bad idea. They're probably only interested in helping to sell the house.

I've looked this up. Usually it's a combination of whatever the homeowner can still afford plus any donated time or materials from their contractors. The show has a certain budget for all this as well but I don't remember the specifics further than that.

I'd have gotten rid of that lousy fireplace. Cemented it up. Put PLANTS in there. Forget about all the trickiness in reconfiguring with another inserted unit.

Even home spector doesn't know what they doing,or they are working with these under ground contractors and getting piece of the action and if a contractor ,reckon mend you a home inspector to you, don't take it,they might be working together.so what l will do is check with Angie list and see what she have for you,in home inspector and contractors in your area.

@@RoyceYoungMonson - Yeah it is no different than the owner of a business like a restaurant or whatever, they don't do the cooking, that's the privilege of being the top guy in a business, you hire and pay people. The BIG difference with Mike Holmes is he 100% inspects every aspect of his employees work, and oversees everything on a job, there is no slipping shoddy work past him, unlike so many other bosses who rarely do much other than occasionally touch base with a manager and enjoy their profits.
