BBC AFRICA also covers very positive things. you cannot only show one side of societies. the mistake here is they did not set up a way for viewers to donate if they choose. i feel very bad for the old man, if there were cameras and a way to hold the driver accountable like in the US laws against hit & runs, he would have disability income, some basic healthcare for the initial injuries received, and he'd qualify for senior/disabled housing, foodstamps etc. There would be a lawsuit for the man who hit him and was operating the transportation service and he'd be jailed. Housing in the country has become so expensive even for those earning monthly wages, 50K can't do anything these days. We urgently need creative and AFFORDABLE housing solutions for these people and they should be given priority. A bridge is no place for a person to sleep. With more than half of the country's population under 30 years of age the lack of job opportunities for self-sustenance is just so frustrating.

Berndy joseph difference is that in new York, a below average job can get you a decent living situation whereas in Lagos, below average income can’t get you decent bunking. The rents are accumulated and paid yearly and there’s tons of extra fees attached to the rent. Before you can get a place you should have worked a while year and saved up for it. That’s just not right, down here comfort or simple decency is a luxury.

We need to build infrastructure, we need to create jobs, we need to create social programs, we need to be wary of Chinese influence and unbalanced business deals and instead form strategic partnerships, we need to build Nigeria up as a great business destination for fin-tech/tech/medical-tech/tourism, and we need to radically improve the education system. What is even more depressing is that Nigeria has 150 million poor people out of 190 Million and 80 Million people living below poverty line. Yet they keep breeding ruthlessly without thinking the long term consequences. Yes the government is to blame for not taking good care of its people however Nigerians who live abroad always brag about how good they are doing in education especially in the US. But those people that are doing good in schools abroad, most of them couldn’t give a shit going back to Nigeria and help their people by opening business for example. And if so,they would build a house in Nigeria for themselves and family. Isn’t it the same shit the government leaders are doing too? You should be blamed too. There is no reason to moan on the government when you yourself is buying a house that is not contributing to the economy. All you do is blame the government but all you do is sitting on your lazy ass and talk. This also applies to the whole of Africa but specifically Nigeria since they do it the most.
