All of your comments remind me of the famous quote by Jiddu Krishnamurti. It goes like this, "It is no measure of health to be well adjusted in a profoundly sick society". I have some experience of helping homeless people and I can honestly say that the more empathetic and enlightened a person is as a human being the higher the chance that s/he will be discarded by society. Probably because enlightened empathetic people do not possess the capacity to play the game that society deems necessary for survival.

She is probably an ungrateful person who won't contribute or follow rules of the people trying to help them. I seriously doubt her kids haven't tried to help her. You cannot help stubborn people who won't help themselves. I know a lot of people in situations like this because they REFUSE to get along or respect the people who try to help them and it becomes impossible to help them because they won't help themselves or do their part to cooperate. I've tried helping many people just like this and they take advantage of people who pity them. Some people are toxic and reap what they sow. There are people who make a living conning others who feel sorry for them and use a sob story to milk sympathy just so they can take advantage. She admitted to efforts of assistance that she just complains about and sabotaged in order to smoke. Her family is probably tired of trying and being taken advantage of by an ungrateful person who won't contribute to their own recovery.

We always teach our children with every action we take. Trust me- I have a mentally ill child and have been through the absolute ringer with her so I get it on some level- but sometimes teaching her the right lesson has meant telling her I can’t be the one to help her and pushing to have her hospitalized. Sometimes that means NOT giving her what she wants but giving her what she needs. This woman was given a place to live and refused to not smoke in there. Frankly, I wouldn’t bet on her and go out of my way for her. She isn’t willing to do the bare minimum to help herself.

The world is fucking cruel. Look at Syria. Nobody gives a shit about them. Assad, Erdogan, Putin, Xi Jinping, Trump Bolsonaro and so on. oNly fuckers are presidents all over the world. Billionaires get richer and richer and hundreds of millions have nothing. The world doesnt become better it's getting worse every year. I live in Switzerland and I'm 35 years old. I expect World war 3 to come until 2050 and I know just by observing how terrible the last year was and realizing that it doesnt get better. If I become old I dont think the world will be the same then. As long as the fucking billionaires get richer and politicians all over the world spread corruption and misery humankind will for sure see another big war. China is the worst country the worst government. I think they are capable for anything they could easily start a war and then things will change dramatically everywhere in Europe and US and everywhere else...

I n , Everybody in Heaven is fabulously happy and healthy and Excited. We hope she is Heaven but she was not on the path to get there. You might want to learn that there is another reality ,more credible, orthodox, and widely believed than your simple view. She didn't live the Life of Christ, the sacred life of a holy, pure, sanctified life, partake of the sacraments, attend Church, etc etc. If she committed suicide that is a selfish act which is a mortal sin against the Holy Spirit, It's not probable that this woman is in Heaven. This is not an unkind perspective but it's a more mature, realistic, sagacious, and truthful outcome. I wish her to be in Heaven but Jesus Christ decides and He told us how to get three but this woman didn't take up his holy plan, and live His life to go to Heaven. It is not incorrect to say this because it is stated with honest, sincere humility and charity, only good purposes to educate the edify here. We can pray for her, that's the best service we can provide.

So, before you go on being a hypocrate and judging other people....maybe you should take a longer look in the mirror. If you really do believe you book, maybe you should actually follow it? I used to be a Catholic, so I know all the verses in your Christian books. 1 “Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2 For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. 3 “Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? 4 How can you say to your brother, ‘Let me take the speck out of your eye,’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? 5 You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.

@Wanderer - How sensible could the woman have been?? She was willing to lose her apartment because she couldn’t follow a simple rule. That’s IF she was being truthful about why she lost the place. You don’t know that her family didn’t try to help her. She was clearly either very stubborn or mentally ill if she refused to walk outside to have a smoke. Instead, she chose to lose a warm, tax paid apartment and be homeless 24/7??Clearly, she wasn’t playing with a full deck. Being a former RN, the woman could’ve been a drug addict. We don’t really know. But it’s probably not the best thing for grandchildren to see. Again, you don’t know that her children’s hearts aren’t broken because they couldn’t help her.

My brother is homeless and a smoker. He picks up discarded butts on the ground and collects them. Occasionally he might bum one. For those saying how much cheaper it is to buy food, you are thinking of food you can bring home and prepare. Many people don't have the tools to cook on the streets. Buying prepared food isn't cheap. My brother is also an RN. He has some psychiatric issues which got amplified during stress and as a result got let go from his job. His license has just recently expired I believe. He had neither the money, the technology nor the hope to renew it. As with many homeless people, what should have been a temporary and unfortunate hurdle in his life, has only snowballed and made it near impossible to get out. I mourn who my brother was. And even I have become extremely hopeless that anything with him...and so many others...will ever change. I look into this woman's eyes and see my brother. Ree McLaughlin you're right, we have 'turned out so much different than we should have'. BUT, here's some good news, God does forgive you. He doesn't offer you religion, after all it was religious people who killed His son, but He does offer you a relationship with His only son who died in your place to forgive you for all those bad things you've done. (and we've all done them) It's a stinking, rotten world we live in, but our ONLY hope is in Jesus and if you ask for His forgiveness for all those bad things (He calls them sins) and turn from your old life. If you believe in your heart and say out loud with your mouth that you believe He died for you and you want to accept Him as your personal Lord and saviour and ask Him to live with you forever and help you to live for Him, He will change you from the inside out. You will be born again and He has stated that unless someone is born again they cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. I truly hope you'll consider doing this because He loves you with a love that you can't begin to imagine and He wants to help you and live within you always. He's only a prayer away. No. God has no sympathy for laziness and stupid choices. There are tons of scriptures regarding that. God also says to shake the dust off your feet for those unwilling to hear and help themselves. Even in the animal kingdom an animal must hunt and work for survival, unless they're juveniles. No living species lays in the road expecting other animals to deliver them food and build their nest for them. When they can't survive on their own for whatever reason, they expire. As humans, our love for our friends and family extends that cycle, however, if we choose a life alone, being an ass, for our own bad habits and bad choices, a flotation device isn't in place and it's not the government's place to provide one. Prov 6:9-11 9 How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep? 10 A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest- 11 and poverty will come on you like a thief and scarcity like an armed man. biblereasons.com/laziness/ Go to a third world country where there isn't electricity, infrastructure, or opportunities and you'll get a clear understanding what American privilege is. 21,000 children die daily from the lack of clean drinking water, and this lady complains about free housing where she can't smoke cigarettes.

At 25 I found him living in a park, homeless, dirty, skinny😔😔 He just turned 29 ☺ Been living with me since. NOT easy !!! He just has not been able to stay sober. There are many Veterans living like this, many have PTSD.My son tells me one guy was a sniper during Vietnam.PTSD !!! Another one overdosed in front of everyone. One died at Mercy Hospital and the guy who always looked out for my son on his binge trips just went home to Ohio to die in Hospice of cirrhosis 😔 Thank God my son doesn't get blasted daily....more like a binge drinker BUT still.....every job he had,he lost because of alcohol. Payday " friends " and off he goes again. I'm 60 now have HOPE so I will continue to provide love acceptance, food, shelter as long as I can. Motherhood I guess is for LIFE HOW do I throw him away ?? Because living like that is HELL. I am disabled, been so all my life but without the fortune of a diagnosis. Been homeless on and off for nearly half my life. 55 as of this post. Didn't even get a partial diagnosis till 53. Sure now I have been put up in a apartment. But the lifeline phone only works sometimes. I have gotten multiple eviction notices due to the state being late to pay bills. Same with electric bills. Right this moment I need minor surgery and have no way of getting to a clinic to have it done. 10 days till I get more food stamps but I'm already out of food for the month. Water in the building I am in is so toxic you can't drink or cook with it! And I can tell you, without a moments thought, if I was offered a painless way to end things now and be done with this life I wouldn't hesitate to take it. @TheOneWhoEndures WRONG!!! You must keep and DO the commandments in order for you to enter in the Kingdom (HEAVEN) Of God!! Commandments are the LAWS of God!! (They are something we must do)! It's falls under the category of WORK!! *Philippians 2:12 “Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, WORK out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” THE LAWS OF GOD: They were established by him IN ANCIENT TIMES and HE DOESN'T CHANGE AT ALL!!! *Malachi 3:6 “For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.” Look, my unlearned KZbin wanna be warrior! I'll let the God OF ISRAEL / His HOLY WORD teach and speak to you, in place of myself. One thing I won't do, is regurgitate what was taught too me or come up with my own personal emotional feelings about what I think his word is. Why?? Because the word says the following my LOST friend. *Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.” *Proverbs 3:6 “In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” *Proverbs 3:7 “Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.” SO, Stop it with your Christianity DOGMA AND LIES "Theonewhoendures!" Do you actually think I'm going to listen to you or Gods word?? *Acts 5:29 “Then Peter and the other apostles answered and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.” *Luke 18:18 “And a certain ruler asked him, saying, Good Master, WHAT SHALL I DO TO INHERIT ENTERNAL LIFE?" *Luke 18:19 “And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God.” *Luke 18:20 “Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.” *John 14:15 “If ye love me, keep my commandments.” *1 John 5:3 “For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.” *Revelation 22:14 "Last Book In The Bible" “Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.” I'll digress for now but, if you don't repent and change your way of thinking.... Here's what CHRIST SAID YOUR CATEGORY WILL BE IN WHO TEACHES LIES AND LOVE GIVEN OUT MISINFORMED INFORMATION!! *Matthew 5:19 “Whosoever therefore shall break one of these least commandments, and SHALL TEACH MEN SO, HE shall be called the LEAST in the kingdom of heaven: THIS IS WHAT I'M DOING HERE IN THIS VERSE WITH YOU > but whosoever shall do and teach them, the same shall be called GREAT n the kingdom of heaven.” Take care and wake up too the truth and stop being led by lies and deception...... Peace!

It is despicable that a nurse should end up on the streets. It is despicable that our Veterans end up on the street. What is absolutely UNFATHOMABLE is that illegal immigrants, who broke the law the minute they set foot on American soil, are forcing homeless Veterans who are just in between the streets and a home, out of the hotels because the "sanctuary city money" will pay a hotel twice as much for a room as the outfit paying for our Veterans! Without our selfless Veterans NO ONE would be free to even own a hotel much less chase a veteran out only to be replaced by an illegal immigrant!

My mom was homeless. Sometimes we went to shelters, or she begged for hotel money . Other times she let me stay at my friends house to shower and eat and go to school . My mom is the most wonderful person I've ever met. Rip mom . She passed early at 57 . Her body was about the age of 87 though . I love homeless people so much because I know what its like. I know what it is to be starving and look forward to school to eat . I know wbat its like to wear thrift store shoes 1 pair for 2 years while kids make fun of you . I love people and was given a very hard young life . I feel this shaped me to he so loving emotional and to live people so much.
