Yep this one doesn't use yeast. :) Although yeast ones are really good too. This is just faster and tastes great too.

It’s supposed to use yeast. That’s why these particular beneigs look hard and have holes in them

matt, i have made these with cinnamon and applesauce or cider, they are great. i luv the easy recipe. they cook up quick. but i tell people im making donuts and they are all waiting for a dozen or so.

can i use whole milk instead of butter milk?

Yes, I would add a tsp or 2 of lemon juice or vinegar to the whole milk first and let it sit for 5 minutes.

Use something like canola oil or vegetable oil. Those aren't the healthiest of oils, but they are not as expensive. Healthier options include coconut oil or avocado oil.

There are two different styles of beignets like this and then those made with yeast-based dough.

If I want to air fry these, how hot should my air fryer temperature be & How long should I air fry them for?

I haven't air fried them before, so it is hard to say. Try the same temp and start with 7 to 10 minutes.

@@inthekitchenwithmatt These make me think of the holiday Mardi Gras (Fat Tuesday) which is celebrated in New Orleans most famously & Mardi Gras is when Christians who are going to fast during the Lent season get to eat all the sugary & fatty foods they want before their fast starting on Ash Wednesday which is the day after Mardi Gras that begins the Lent season. I have made Beignets in the air fryer using a yeast dough for them & they were really amazing. I did it at 345°F for 6 mins. I sometimes think that if a beignet dough has different Ingredients like the chemical leavening agents in them, I may have to cook them at a different temp & for a different amount of time. But I will experiment these at 400°F for 7-10 mins & see how they turn out.

ive made this recipe around 4 times. and i have to use around 1 more cup of flour everytime i make it. ithink you should probably update the recipe.

It's my recipe haha, I have made it several times the measurements are accurate. Are you using American Standard Measuring cups? You can't just use any cup.

@@inthekitchenwithmatt yes. it just always comes out super sticky and i cant even pick it up! so i usually add more flour and it helps a lot.

Definitely not beignets without a proper yeast dough but they're probably fine, just not beignets

Thanks for the comment, however that is incorrect. There are more than one type of beignet a yeast-based version and a non-yeast version, just like donuts. Here is an example from the actual New Orleans website: www.neworleans.com/restaurants/traditional-new-orleans-foods/beignets/ (no yeast) another style uses the classic choux pastry: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beignet (again no yeast) But the yeast kind are very common as well.
