That chives dim-sum is drool worthy though for a moment I thought it was spinach .We also call Pao for bread 👍 The sticky rice ( coagulated ) with mushroom one biter was a great move 👍 Happy New Year Green Tea cheers 👍 Oh there is a logic in arranging the bowls - awesome 👍Li enjoying the chicken feet but she needs more coz only one bowl of Chicken feet 😀 Li’s insights into the chicken feet was super ( Tiger Skin Phoenix Talon ) True that Joel - though you took us round the world to explain your point on how the diaspora community brings out a traditional array of dishes 👌 Super that you polished off all the 20 bowls 👏🏼👏🏼 What a gorgeous and fabulous temple 🙏🙏 Oh cool - there comes a fab drone shot of the Temple 🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️ Wherever Joel is - Durian can’t be far away 😀😀 This was a fabulous and wonderful Vlog and a great day to begin by watching this Vlog 👍👍👍 Much love and respect to one and all 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️💐💐💐💐 Wishing each and everyone of you a wonderful and blessed day and weeks ahead 💐💐💐 God bless 🙏👏🏼

As an engineer, I love stainless steel. Well, very many other uses. I told my wife when I die if possible, make it a stainless steel coffin. Probably won't happen, but I won't be there to see. Have a very great new year. Lovely Dim Sum. I made Chinese hot chili oil today, the Thai chili flakes are finer, and don't take as much oil when I add so much garlic and lots of chopped shallots. I think I should used Chinese green onions next time. A lot less prep. What do you think. Maybe use all of the onions and more garlic for a special crispy cooked cooking oil?

Dear Joel, I just read something and immediately thought of you: "You never really know the true impact you have on those around you. You never know how much someone needed that smile you gave them. You never know how much your kindness turned someone's entire life around. You never know how much someone needed that long hug or deep talk. So don't wait to be kind. Don't wait for someone else to be kind first. Don't wait for better circumstances or for someone to change. Just be kind, because you never know how much someone needs it." (by Nikki Banas (Impact))

Yes I do spend a lot of time trying to clean up the sound, but I also want to include the authentic feeling, it adds a lot even for me being there myself this is one of my favorite parts of street food in the world so… But thanks for the very understanding comment, thanks for the support again :-) hope this finds you well, see you again very soon

Joel. If you don't know already (which I'm sure you do) try out Toey Dim Sum in Chiang Mai. I lived in CM for 20 years and it was my wife and I favourite Dim Sum in all of Thailand. All the best, Adam.

Adam! Legend, you’re the man, thank you so much, no kidding man I might even go here tonight. Ha ha great recommendation thanks again for the heads up. Wow, on second thought I’m even getting very appreciative of the experiences you must’ve had here over those 20 years. Even visiting occasionally, and now living here only for three or four years, I can see such a difference across just one decade let alone two!

@@JoelsTastyRide hey bud. No worries. I was sure that you’d had already heard of it or at least Mark may have. We only ever went around brunch so not sure of an evening session. It’s very Thai basic and sometimes have to wait 5 mins for a table. Worth the wait. They have a fried shrimp that’s almost like a spring roll that’s famous here. Funnily enough not widely advertised. Must try these. My wife and I used to get one each. I wish we still lived there I could show you a few places that have remained through all those years. Little gems that will forever be in my memories. Now back in Oz 5 years and we more or less have to make all our own food due to high costs etc. miss CM a lot.

Hey Joel, there is a Portuguese community in Malacca ( Malaysia ), that speaks a dialect of Portuguese that is no longer spoken in Portugal today. You might be aware that Malacca was once captured by the Portuguese led by the great general Alfanso de Albuquerque. Nice video, btw.

👋. That fruit looks so much like a jackfruit. Does it taste the same?
@JoelsTastyRide2 жыл бұрын
Hiiiiii Sher! This is in fact Dorian, the king of fruits. You know what though… Jackfruit could easily be a king in many ways, it’s the largest tree growing fruit in the world, on second thought I don’t really know why durian deserves the title of king outright… Jackfruit has a lot of reasons why it could also be “king” or A king at least 😂

@JoelsTastyRide2 жыл бұрын
Hi Lol! Typical gratuity after a meal here in Thailand is zero baht. Restaurants that are used to foreign visitors tho will (sometimes) write on the menu (we add 10% for gratuity, and then they’ll add it in the bill). Most people do not leave a tip, but of course you can if you want, and for such a family like this I would simply leave whatever the difference is from some easy number so as to not force them to go and round up a bunch of loose change. For example, this meal cost 460, I gave them a 500 note and then we left, I would say this is quite normal, or in some cases more than what would be expected.

Teochew origins are from southern china fujian province in a place called Chaoshan. Dim Sum originates in cantonese cuisine, maybe due to inter-marriages it got passed on , or maybe cantonese people in thailand speak teochew which is the dominant dialect is also highly possible but It's VERY hard work to make those little dim sum dumplings and other steamed snacks.
