I used to do that, but it took up too much space to store, so now I make a homemade powder recipe. It all fits in a large mason jar. Borax, Baking soda, essential oil and some generic oxygen booster. So much less storage! Myfabric softner is just distilled white vinegar and essential oils. Leaves No vinegar smell and works great.

What would you say about the ingredients in the Fels naptha soap bar now? I believe I read that it changed over the last several years. I bought one and it has talc, fragrance, and titanium dioxide. I watched this video because of the powdered laundry detergent video you posted. I see you used borax in this one. Does that help in getting the clothes really clean? Also, would you suggest using 1 full cup of laundry detergent for heavily soiled clothes?My husband fixes jets for the military so the smell of jet fuel is so overbearing sometimes. Lastly, do you suggest this type of bar soap instead of Castile soap for this recipe? Or would either work?
@ouroilyhouse
@ouroilyhouse 5 жыл бұрын
I like using borax but some people (mostly out of the country) have a hard time getting borax so I wanted to have options for both. A little goes a long with this soap but you can always add more essential oils if you want a stronger scent. I think the fels naptha is best fo r this recipe.

I’m wondering if you feel this soap gets your clothes clean. My daughter in law made her own soap for several years in big buckets. I think the recipe was the same......except I don’t know about essential oils in it. But I never thought it got her clothes clean. They looked dingy a lot of the time, and the little girls panties never got stains out. What did you use to help get rid of stains in underwear and baby’s bibs and clothes. She was always happy w/ the homemade detergent, and didn’t say anything about the stains , but I noticed them. What did you use to help w/ stains? I’m interested in knowing. This video is two years old, but Izvestia just seen it right now. I use Clorox, but my daughters get made at me (not really) when I do.

Felt naphtha is a laundry bar and the only one I have tired this recipe with. I am afraid other soap wouldn't work the same.

@@ouroilyhouse Thanks a lot. Great channel. Like I said to your sister, I'm trying to eliminate plastic from my house. Especially in the kitchen. The logical next step is manufactured cleaning products.

Hi. You can also use Zote soap but I don’t use it because it has chemicals in it. I use Kirk’s soap bar, I use the fragrance free all natural one. Works well, hope this helps.

I have been using the powder one for 5 years now, and I saw a KZbin video of the damage this does on the washing machine. Is the liquid one better to use?

Did you know you makes use much less soap? That one bar gives me 5 gallons of laundry soap. Goes a LONG way especially in todays HE washers that use much less water. If you have hard water besure to add backing soda. Using vinegar in rince cycle is extremely good for your clothes AND washer.
