Thank you! I wanted to know how to quickly make sausage rolls! Got the ingredients and it is Sunday and I'm not going out! Kids will be happy with this!

This is the way I make my sausage rolls except that I slightly roll the sausages in a little flour to make them a bit longer and find that they fit better on the pastry like that. 😊Great ideas for additions, thank you

Thanks much for this. I'm from a small Oklahoma town and when I was growing up we had a lady in our church that made these every year for a New Year's party, she married one of our soldiers that was stationed in England during WWII and immigrated here after the war. I looked forward to these treats every New Years, I think she made her own sausage because it didn't taste the same as what we could buy at the grocers.....Do you have a recipe for the type of sausage you use, most of ours is sage based flavor and I think yours is different.
@BestofBritishBlackwell5 жыл бұрын
I. C. Spotz Thanks for commenting. That is a lovely story. The sausage meat I use tends to be either plain pork sausage meat with just black pepper. However sometimes I just buy the type of sausages I like, remove the skins and use that meat. I prefer the plain pork meat with a bit of seasoning though.

I. C. Spotz that's a beautiful story. My Grandad was in the Air Force and stationed in England during WWII where he met and married my Nana. She is unable to bake these days and its hard to find sausage rolls in Virginia. I am here to learn how to make a proper sausage roll so I can surprise her. ❤️

There’s no need to drown the meat in cheese, mustard, tomato IMO. Just the meat, salt, pepper and golden pastry fresh out of the oven, yum!

All a matter of personal preference. I like all sausage rolls.

Cheers for uploading this. Going to be using your method later today with some parmesan and black truffle sausages I got from Morrisons to make something a little richer than usual to eat as small portions for an evening snack. Have you ever tried sprinkling grated cheese on the top (outside) before cooking and/or what are your thoughts on doing this?
@BestofBritishBlackwell Жыл бұрын
Thanks for commenting. Best of luck with the cook, do let me know how it goes. You need to be a little careful with putting cheese on the outside as it can burn easily and if it does, it can make the pastry taste bitter. A little on the inside should be fine.
@Cheeseberry69 Жыл бұрын
@@BestofBritishBlackwell They were fantastic! I made most of them without cheese on but just added a few sprinkles to the top of a couple to see how they turned out. The cheese didn't burn but it didn't really add anything positive either so I don't think I'll bother next time. I topped a couple with some sea salt after basting with the egg, they were by far the best tasting ones! I'm thinking of trying a little sprinkle of sesame seeds next time

Each to their own. However, you won’t find a single chef or TV chef who doesn’t use premade or shop bought pastry.

Kinda isn’t homemade if your buying the pastry’s pre-made. Also if you going to buy the pastry you might as well just buy sausage Rolls for the same price!

200 degrees for 20 minutes leads to raw meat and raw dough. It ruined my sausage rolls. Why did you say the wrong temp? Were you using Celsius!?
@BestofBritishBlackwell3 жыл бұрын
I always use Celcius (most UK ovens and cooking appliances are based on Celcius). 200f is not even above boiling point, so I am not surprised you didnt get a good cook.
