I forget, You can add a little prepsolve to a rag to remove the adhesive. You can find this in the autobody section of your local parts store. It is made to remove adhesives and wax. Hope this helps you out.

I dont own a heat gun. What is a substitute that can be used?

You have to carefully remove them. If one is broke the dealer should be able to get a new molding clip for your Ford Ranger.

This red tape sticks strongly to the body of the car, but not to the rubber molding. I am looking for an other solution.

You have to really clean the molding really good so that is does stick.

Depending on how bad the vehicle is rusted you might have to fix the rust issue first so you have something solid to attach the molding to. Hope this helps you out.
