Started at ep 1 and started binge watching. I’m building a rough 13.5x24ft long dedicated HT. Trying to learn and take notes. This channel has been amazing. Thanks for all the work.

Great video! Super informative! I was looking into upgrading my front stage with the JTR’s Noesis 212HTR and 212RT. The speakers are definitely on the higher end of my budget so I wanted to get your professional opinion on the quality and if the speakers are worth the money.

Thanks. It just so happens a 3rd party review on them just came out a week ago with on and off axis repsonses and they look very nice. I also have a few friends who own them (Newby) or have heard them (youthman) and have been extremely impressed to say the least. I'm even using JTRs in a room design I'm doing for someone and have gotten questions answered quickly by the owner of JTR. If a client has chosen a speaker I don't feel is good I'll definitely let them know as a poor speaker limits the treatment plan and room envelopment and I don't want to design a room with poor sound. So absolutely yes to JTR.

Where do you find this information? Is there a reliable third party website that maintains off axis charts for speakers?

Is there a practical way we can measure the on axis and off axis response of our own speakers without dragging them out to a field?

If using a JBL 308 5.1 system how do they interface with the AVR? Most AVR do not have XLR or TRS output.

I'm planning on using Mirage OS3 FS and Center for my LCR and OS3 Sats for all my surround and atmos (ceiling hung). These are omnipolar speakers, are they going to be adequate for an ATMOS setup?
@hometheatergurus5 жыл бұрын
Ideally atmos speakers will be direct radiating but if that's what you have it doesn't mean you can't use them. Of course object placement could be smeared somewhat. Ep 3 covers atmos and Dolby's recommendations as far as speaker characteristics.

In the beginning of this video, it says in that text that "Overhead speakers with a wide dispersion pattern are desirable for use in a Dolby Atmos system"..and i thought that wides are NOT recommended, as Atmos speakers?? So can i use wides as top middles? Or did i understand something wrong now?
@hometheatergurus5 жыл бұрын
A wide dispersion is a characteristic of a speakers dispersion.
@morbus745 жыл бұрын
@@hometheatergurus so, actual "wide dispersion" speakers are still not remommended as Atmos speakers 😉
@hometheatergurus5 жыл бұрын
@@morbus74 I'm not sure who's feeding you incorrect information but during my videos I show you cutouts directly from Dolby. Here's a copy and paste directly from their Dolby Atmos pdf. Choose overhead speakers that are timbre matched as closely as possible to the primary listener-level speakers. Overhead speakers with a wide dispersion pattern are desirable for use in a Dolby Atmos system. My videos aren't opinion based but information pulled directly from Dolby. As for the location in the bed layer called wides, that location is also supported by Dolby but not DSU.
@morbus745 жыл бұрын
@@hometheatergurus Yes, i read that wide dispersion from that pdf. text from your video.. But with wide disperion i mean the kind of "wides" that could be used as surrounds also.. Not directly front firing. Sorry if i'm giving you a hard time but i just want get this right 😊

From diysoundgroup -Fusion 8 -Anything from the htm series If high sensitivity isn't needed the Helix would also be a great option.
