A look at my Honda CBF1000F and what I've done to it over the past 2 years.
Now I've actually got a mic for my camera my videos have sound......I do apologise for my ramblings.
All videos are unedited, simply because I don't have a computer and I can't really be bothered as this is just a bit of fun, and something to look back on when I'm older !!!!

The well known wobble is putting many off, you can feel it with one hand on the bars, the set up of the CBF makes it near impossible to get rid of, for the price you will have thought Honda will not be selling the bike with the wobble on the front handlebars, well it is a cheap bike to buy and its more of a commuter bike, reliable,

Hello . What is the brand of your jacket please? It looks very qualitative .
@thetaleof2wheels.947
@thetaleof2wheels.947 Жыл бұрын
Hi. The Jacket was the Oxford products Montreal 3.0, it was ok for the price but I've upgraded to the Oxford Mondial which is a much better jacket. Depending on where you live and what the weather is like would determine what jacket would suit best.

I tried all i could think of to stop the buffeting on the windscreen on mine but nothing worked. Its not too bad if the screen was all the way down, but then not much protection. Did you find the new bracket you fitted, a big difference and worth the price and fitting? Cheers.
@thetaleof2wheels.947
@thetaleof2wheels.947 Жыл бұрын
The Palmer Products bracket was worth the money, it made the airflow a lot smoother and stopped the buffeting. The advantage as well was the extra 9 positions that the windscreen could be moved into, which means you can tailor the position of the screen to what suits you best.

BTW do you have bar risers ? I just bought a CBF mk2 and I have the same colour - came from UK 40k miles and all rusty in rear swing arm... before i have cbr from Italy - everything was superb
@thetaleof2wheels.947
@thetaleof2wheels.947 2 жыл бұрын
I had SW Motech 25mm bar risers on, they are the maximum you can put on without altering cables and brake line. If a bike has been ridden through the UK winter then rust can be problematic, as the roads get covered in road salt when temperatures drop.

@@thetaleof2wheels.947 i can buy 30mm riser - do you think with this extra 5mm can it fit? I also plan to make a gel pad into a seat
@thetaleof2wheels.947
@thetaleof2wheels.947 2 жыл бұрын
@@mikkei3532 25mm is maximum the brake hose and throttle cables can take, any more and you would be putting too much stretch on them. Possibly wouldn't be able to turn the bars properly either. I don't have any experience with gel seats as my seat was totally stock.

I'm looking at CBF1000s at the moment and I think it's actually the bike I've seen the most swingarm rust on, you'll struggle to find one without any. I might end up just trying to knock the price down a bit for the rust and get the swing arm off, get it blasted and powder coated and sort out the shock linkage bearings etc whilst I'm at it

Really nice bike, considering buying one with 20k miles on, which probably should be nothing for this bike !
@thetaleof2wheels.947

They can do mega miles if serviced correctly, it's a very understressed motor. I'm sure on one of the CBF groups someone had done 100,000+ miles on one. The only down side was the 245KG weight, and they can be awkward to get onto the centre stand, but other than that a fantastic bike. If it's at the right price and condition I would highly recommend it, I enjoyed every minute on mine when I had it.

@@thetaleof2wheels.947 Thanks for the reply, I saw you sold this bike. Hard to say if the price is right for the one I'm considering. It's 2 owners only with FSH. Described as "pristine", and valued at 5k. Bit high if you ask me, but perhaps worth it. I'm considering this and a much lighter and little less powerful SV650X, a neo caffe racer - different bike altogether. Or a F800ST. Honda has the most power of all of them, is the fastest, heaviest, and most suitable for touring. I'm not sure how much touring I'll do, but it's nice to have the option. Anyhow, what bike did you get after the Honda?

@@abato_a Prices are holding well, even on used bikes and have gone up over the past few months. Probably due to the lack of supply of new bikes, and good quality used bikes being in high demand. I would try and test ride them all, as they all have different engine characteristics. Find which one suits you best. The CBF will do 145mph, but does get light on the front from about 135mph. They handle weight well, with the Mrs and luggage on I didn't notice any weight once moving, it was only at a standstill. A great touring bike, that is often overlooked. I traded in for a Triumph Scrambler 1200 XE, it's shown here on my channel. As is the other 2 bikes currently in my household. My own Honda Monkey 125, and the Mrs's Triumph Scrambler 900. Good luck with choosing the right bike, really we all just need a huge garage 😉

They are a nice comfortable bike. Good thing is , they have low down torque, so no messing about with gears if you dont want to. I had mine at 20mph in top gear, just to try how slow i can go. Turn the throttle without changing down, and she pulls like a train. Also, on a canny day, i got 60mpg, but you can easily get the low 50s out of it.
