I had a non-tourer i-DTEC SR, same Civic generation, and it was an excellent underrated vehicle. It was comfy, practical, the Magic rear seats were super useful and it easily pulled 55mpg+ without even trying. I traded it in for an FK2 Type R which could only get 32mpg if driven painfully slowly - which i only ever did once.

I have a 65 civic tourer that I bought at 1 year old, was ex Honda fleet car. I really like it, the zero road tax, massive boot space and great MPG means I will probably hold onto it for while unless anything major comes up.

Hello, i have Been thinking of buying a Honda civic, have you had any issues with yours or is there anything special you should look for when buying a used one?
@johndglynn Жыл бұрын
Hi there, my car has been 100% reliable so nothing I can say about what to look for. I guess check the usual stuff - tyres and brakes, service history etc - and plug a code reader into it and check for anything untoward. Good luck 😉

I like the car very much and have owned for 15 months, does everything I want, but it just isn't a Volvo. I owned an S60 D5 for 5 years. The quality and solidity isn't there
@johndglynn2 жыл бұрын
I also had Volvos for years - mostly 940 TD estates, four years in a V50 diesel company car and a short lived XC90 experience. Matches the 900s across the board in my opinion, especially the excellent driving position. Quality is much higher than the V50. But it can be hard to switch from one brand to another.

For mpg consider the type of tires. The all season/winter tyres have a higher rolling resistance and also the colder weather will both result in lower figures. I had 'all seasons' on during summer and they got shredded pretty quick so i'd swap to 'summer' tyres most of the time and maybe swap to all season/winter during winter.
@johndglynn2 жыл бұрын
I find no real difference in economy from all season to summer tires. I gave up using pure winters a few years back. Just changed my Goodyears to Michelins after c.50k miles, half on the rear. They lasted great. MPG unchanged 👍🏻

No, super easy. The oil filter is recessed so get an oil filter socket tool 👍🏻

Hi i have same car but i have one issue with my car when i full my diesel tank then diesel shaking sound comes in cabin on specially braking on local roads its very irritating have you face this issue but when half tank used then the shaking sound is gone if you know how to fix this plz let me know Many thanks
@johndglynn Жыл бұрын
No idea about this. If yoyu have noise under braking then it likely won't be your fuel tank - maybe weight related.

Hi I have the same thing, owned the car now for 4 years and every time I fill the tank I hear the sloshing. Have multiple opinions on it from other owners and professionals, it seems to be normal and not a problem at all. seems to be a fairly common experience. hope this helps 👍
@propanbutan4634 Жыл бұрын
@@JC-CBR-XX got the same on my hatch
@andym10563 ай бұрын
I had the same car. I think your heat the sloshing because of the location of the fuel tank, as it was further forward which gave the extra boot/ under back seat room in this generation civic

Hi. If You are doing 75, then it is 70 on sat nav. Some difference on mpg You can get from 1) exchange air filter every 5000 2) overinflate tyres (gently) 0,2bar (if You do it more, it will use middle of the tyre, if its underinflated it will use sides) I do keep My on 2,6bar all around.

2.2 DTEC, wanted the bigger engine because I drive mountains, Autobahn and occasionally sporty. 45-48mpg average with long journeys 75-100 mph as cruising speed. No petrol car can perform that mpg and those speeds. Above 100mph, ahum maybe 30mpg 🤪

anything you move into from a civic diesel will cost more in fuel and be less reliable.... and it comes into its own on the tight twisty roads we drive... use you r cruise control more it drives more eco than you can...
