Honda久々のオン・オフモデル
CRF250Lの試乗会が開催された。
オフロードファンなら、デュアルパーパスモデルのこのCRF250Lは
昨年の東京モーターショー以来大変気になる存在だった。
開発キーワードは、On(日常)を便利に、Off(週末)を楽しむ
"ちょうどいい相棒 New On&Off Gear"。
デザインは好き嫌いあるにせよ、幅広いユーザーが楽しく扱えるよう
トータルバランスと操縦安定性を徹底的に追求された。
CBR250Rと同様のエンジンを採用し
タイで生産するなどで徹底的にコストを抑えた結果、
メーカー希望小売価格がCBR250Rと同じなのだから
250ccモデルとしてはなかなか魅力的な存在である。

エンジンはCBR250Rから流用したためか不思議な凝縮感があり、
一見コンパクトな車体と外観が印象的である。
しかし、実際にはかなりの大柄で、
ライディングポジションも1クラス上のサイズに近く、
スペック的にも同クラスのライバルたちより、長く、大きい。
シート高は875mと高めだが、
乗車１Gでのサスペンションの沈み込みが大きく、
身長170cm以上のライダーなら、足つき性に不安は覚えないはず。
オンロードバイクと同様のエンジンであるにも関わらず、
Honda一流のエンジン技術は、
吸排気系の変更で新たなエンジンを作り出している。
ウルトラスムーズでかつ十分に活発な動力性能を持つこのエンジンは、
振動の少なさも手伝って、143kgと決して軽くない車体を
オフロードでも元気に走らせる。
また、しっかりとフロントに過重を与えられていることもあり、
オンロードでの安定性と運動性能も高く、
ワインディングを攻めても不安は少なく、
オンロードツーリングも十分に楽しめる。
総じて、オンでもオフでもかなりの優等生であり、
一切とがったところがないため、
走って楽しいバイクであることは間違いない。
そうした意味からも確かにビギナーから......
とは言えなくもないが、唯一やはり重さが気になる。
とりわけ、オフでバランスを崩した時や
タイトターンではその重さを痛感する。
もう1クラス上のエンジンを与えられたら
もっと楽しい存在になるのではないだろうか。
と、思うくらいにオンでもオフでも思い切り楽しめる存在で、
2時間の試乗時間があっという間に終わってしまった。
もう一度、しっかり乗ってみたい1台である。

That's a good point. I have a street-legal XR650R. It's light for what it is, but it's tall, so it "feels" heavy. From LA, you're looking at an hour or so to get to the trails, so the big motor handles freeway just fine, but it's buzzy. The Japanese are going for watercooled, FI, 250 dualsports because they'll sell well all over the world. Honda's using a steel frame and making it in Thailand to keep the price down. It's good to see new interest in these versatile and fun machines.

Yea, i have the CBR..I hope they changed the gearing on this one. The CBR's 1st and 2nd gears are way too short. Hopefully not on this one, because short 1st and 2nd would be terrible on trails. I was wondering how it would handle 45-60 mph. On the CBR it handles those speeds well, but hopefully this can too.

Looks like a great bike to me very similar to my KLX250. What I miss at the Honda is a small luggage rack and the exhaust made of stainless steel. Otherwise: Great bike. Well done, Honda.

well,i am looking for a medium size trail/route motorcycle.i may go on highways for 200 milles,,what speed can i cruise with it without problem? can i install some travelling boxes like on BMW on the rear with his smal frame? can it suport it?? thanks guys Gf

Honestly though, look at really any small CC bike from Honda. The gearing from 1-n-2 is short. I also have the CBR and yeah I do find you always gotta be gearing from 1-2 doing low speeds. Then again, this is a Honda were talking about; you're not going to break it:P!

Cycle World says est. 77 mpg. Of course, riding dirt or street, it could vary a lot. I bet you'd really have to beat on it to do worse than 50.

I hope this will be a nice cheap but quality bike.. It shares the engine from the honda cbr250r which is smooth will little vibration.. At 250cc it stays within the asien tax laws and will be made in thailand.. It would be a perfect everyday bike ,, with great economy and ride but still enough torque to be suitable to cruise at 50 mph comftable

YESSSSS I have a 650L and a 230L and i really think that a 450 would be perfect! 650 is... BIG and a little to heavy, 230 cant really travel at 70mph very long so a 450 would be perfect!

That exact thing was announced for 2019. 11k for it though. Personally, I'd like a more toned down motor with long service intervals over the motocross motor, but to each their own.
