Does your speedometer work?
@MakeItSo2 жыл бұрын
Yep works perfectly. It's a direct swap.

Does the OBD1 ECU recognize the signal coming from the analog speedo or is there special wiring that has to be done?
@MakeItSo Жыл бұрын
It's a JDM OBD0 ECU that came with the motor so no issues reading the analog speedo.

I also missed this in my swap preparations and due to lack of space the old transmission has also been thrown out before I realised I needed the speedo drive from it. Now I discover they are also difficult to find used and nobody makes them new. Did you have to do anything special to remove yours? I’ve found a guy who can sell me one but he can’t get it out of the transmission.
@MakeItSo2 жыл бұрын
Nothing special. I just removed the retaining plate and gently pried it up with a large flathead screwdriver using the little groove that the retaining plate slots into. I grabbed the top of the vss and wobbled it back and forth to loosen it up. It's a bit like a cork. Some WD or penetrating oil might help if it's really crusty.

@@MakeItSo Thanks, will pass it on and hope for the best. I've heard opening the transmission and pushing it out from the inside is what some people have to resort to.

I have been trying to get one of the anolog speed sensor for my car to convert it back to OEM, i have ran into the issue of all of them being siezed into the transmission with every car i tried to pull them from. They crack before they even come out with the method you showed her, have any tips to not have that happen
@MakeItSo Жыл бұрын
I don't. You could soak the connection point with WD-40 overnight. To remove it I tapped it gently back and fourth at the top with a rubber mallet until it was loose enough to be pulled out by hand.

My B series is missing that tab that came on your d series transmission. My speedo worked when I got my car but has stopped working. Did you reuse your d series speedo cable as well?
@MakeItSo2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I used the D-Series speedo cable

@@MakeItSo Cool, so if I did end up messing up my speedo cable I can get a d series one.

I'm not sure about that. This is a Y1 cable B series transmission.

I tried to pull that out but its very hard, can you tell me how to please?
@MakeItSo2 жыл бұрын
Once you remove the retaining plate you should be able to use a large flat head screwdriver and lever it up using the notch where the rating plate goes.
@MakeItSo2 жыл бұрын
You may have to rock it back and fourth or gently tap on it side to side with a rubber mallet. Use some generous amounts of WD-40 to try and loosen it.
@mikevelela81452 жыл бұрын
@@MakeItSo I tried that, actually I broke up where the retaining plate goes because I did that
