Probably didn't help that the Honda was down to 9% when you raced, cars should be fully charged again before racing to be fair to them both.

I have to admit, the design of the Honda is really good... But £4,000 more for half the mileage.... Its a deal breaker! Years ago I had a Renault Kangoo EV with the same 120 mile range and it was hopeless travel 30 miles from home and you get scared.... Not knowing you will be able to return. As 120 miles range is never more than 80 in real life!!

Isn't that the advance Honda e they putting up against the 208? Because that has 156bhp?
@Chester-UK
@Chester-UK Жыл бұрын
The clue is the 16" wheels and no 240V socket. The Advance has PS4 tyres, and that alone would have been enough to beat the e208 on track but the extra power would have put some distance in too. Considering it was up against the GT, it's an unfair test but I blame Honda because they should have supplied an Advance. Their PR dept needs a serious rethink.
@davidwebster3948
@davidwebster3948 Жыл бұрын
@@Chester-UK if you look carefully at 3:06 you can see the dash and steering wheel, with the 220v socket peaking out, the heated steering wheel button on wheel, and the parking pilot button on the dash which only came on the Advance model. As for the wheels, my 2020 E Advance came with 16" wheels for some reason too. I'd say the combo of skinnier wheels and the weight of the glass roof had a big part to play in not getting around corners fast enough.
@Chester-UK
@Chester-UK Жыл бұрын
@@davidwebster3948 Got it. Still the 16" wheels came with Yokohama BluEarth tyres, not a patch on 17" PS4 tyres on track. Never under-estimate the difference tyres make.

A rather poor review that. The shootout shouldn’t be subjective, it should be based upon the facts. The Peugeot trumps the Honda in every aspect, especially when it comes to price versus range. The cheaper, faster and longer range Peugeot was clearly the better car and should be the one that was recommended in the review.

@@noneyabizz8337 Ignore, definitely a salty former Honda fiancee! The Honda E was never meant to be mainstream volume selling, more akin to the BMW I30 exclusive collectible designer concept for the few. That said the Japanese collective of Honda, Mazda, Suzuki, Mitsubishi et al need to up their game as the game is about to explode into EV madness being led by the Chinese with the Koreans a bit behind.

It's typical for car journalists to knock Peugeots for some reason, even when comparing to inferior cars (guess they don't bribe as well as the other manufacturers). That said, I would struggle choosing between these two as they both look great but would prefer to wait for the EV hot hatch segment to mature before making the jump from ICE.

I honestly think this review is incredibly biased. Not just in the reviewer but also in the comments. Just because it has a Honda badge does NOT make it a better car automatically. A pathetic range, overpriced pricetag and that really pointless full screen interior is just ridiculous. Double wishbone or not, Honda or not, there is no point recommending the Honda over the 208. I can't get my head around car designers changing ideas that have been around for decades because decades ago, they knew it was the best way to go. So Pugs over the steering wheel dashboard. *Pathetically pointless.* But it's OK if you're a _certain_ height. And unless you are that height, then it doesn't matter what you do, you'll never see the dashboard properly. But if you can see it, then the steering wheels in totally the wrong place. My missus is five foot nothing. And that's on a good day. So she'd never be able to get the steering wheel low enough to see over it. It would have to be removable, wireless, and resting on her lap*. * I just hope I've not opened up a can of worms and some designer is now thinking, _"Hmmm... A wireless steering wheel that sits on the drivers lap? And you wouldn't be able to steal the car without it. An interesting idea..."_

hmm... I have P508SW II and I absolutely love its iCockpit... so much that when I drive my other car with "normal" steering wheel, it feels like I'm driving a steamboat 😋! also, my missus is 1.6 m high and has absolutely no problem with dashboard visibility and neither have I (I'm 1.75m).... all that with having the seat not even nearly jacked completely up, or the steering wheel lowered into the lap.... in fact, in my sitting position I still have over an opened palm of space left between the steering wheel and my legs!!! all that with having sitting position practically "by the book" (legs, back, arms position and angles of and between them..) to be fair, the steering wheel feels and is a bit lower than in "normal" cars, but mainly because of its smaller diameter.... its axis is not that drastically lower than the axis of "see through" steering wheels! so, from my first-hand experience, I don't really understand what you are talking about...😌
