A couple of comments: When reinstalling the jet needle into the diaphragm be sure that it is slightly LOOSE! It should not be tight. You need to check that. Also: the idle jet adjusting screw has an o-ring and a tiny flat washer below the spring. To remove them I use a small paper clip. Straighten out the paper clip and put a tiny hook in it. Use the hook to remove the washer and o-ring. That 'left over' o-ring you tossed was supposed to go in the adjuster screw! Also: to remove the limiter cap from the idle mixture screw you can apply heat to melt the glue Honda puts on the cap. I use a tiny butane soldering kit but don't melt the cap! I always remove the limiter cap before removing the mixture screw just to make sure the mixture screw doesn't get broken.... it can happen!

Hi. Have you any advice for me on my 1975 Gl1000. The carbs seems to be the problem with the running. I get the bike running and within 30 miles it always breaks down. Seems to be too rich.

11.30.23. The GL1200 carburetors are different than the ones he is rebuilding. I did mine on a 1985 GL1200, I ultrasonic cleaned and then I soda blasted them. I also replace the rubber diaphragms on the slides, because I had a pinhole in one of them. I used a rebuild kit from Randakk.

nice work tom! i know you skipped the cleaning and polishing part but I m impressed at the final finish not to mention everybody has their own cleaning and polishing methods. i usually dip carb bodies in carb cleaner for 3-4 hrs and then clean with carb cleaner. however its messy and lots of chemicals. your carbs look ultrasonic cleaned or you are just better than me! great videos, very well done. ill be watching more. your commentary is also helpful, you say very helpful tips as you work, very organized too, lots to learn from your technique.

Hi thanks so much for your video. I got a 81 gl 1100 about a year ago and just rebuilt the carbs watching your video it helped me so much. The bike was sitting for a long time before I got it after I put the carbs back on it fired right up but after about 5 minutes it started to smoke anyway I think it is my valve stem seals but it could be the rings I'm no mechanic just watching KZbin video's the one thing I'm confused about is when I put my camera scope into one of the cylinders there was a lot of gas pooling on top of the piston and the intake valve when I had checked it the next day. I don't know who to ask about this situation just thought you may have an idea. Hope you are still doing well.

Hi Tom, greet tutorial. I was wondering if its possible to run fuel through this carb outside of the bike. To pinpoint leaks before remounting it. This because its normally filled with a pump. Can a simple container with fuel gung from the ceiling do the trick?

@stevensapyak797111 ай бұрын
11.30.23. Randakk™️ has rebuild kits for these carburetors that are really good, also, you can source some parts from Honda. K&L also has kits. However, I only use genuine OEM float needles and seats on any carburetors I rebuild. It gets quite expensive, but they work whereas the K&L kits and other cheaper ones are a hit and miss.⚠️ A person should actually test the float needle and seat with gasoline before installing on the bike because if they leak after you install them it’s a pain in the ass to take back off… And if you’re doing this as a service for someone else, it’s a profit killer to do it twice❗️
@BobKramer517 ай бұрын
I have bought many carb kits from Saber Cycle. O-rings fit well. I generally use all the original jets and main jet needle after thorough cleaning. Also, you did not mention that the accelerator pump puts a shot of fuel into all 4 venturies. There is a tiny fuel circuit that connects the 4 carbs. This is usually clogged and very difficult to clean.

hey dude, was gifted a 94 goldwing that was in the middle of being worked on. unfortunately my grandfather passed in the midst of this project. the body needs to be put on but having trouble find a good starting place. any chance you have some advice for me?
@TomAsay642 жыл бұрын
Sorry for the loss of your grandfather. 😔 I would need to know more of what stage of assembly/disassembly the bike is in. Usually you need to start from the inside and work your way out. Before putting the “body” on you need to make sure all the components underneath are installed and in place. You should locate the service manual either online or in paper form to really do this properly. Actually, It is very interesting to look thru the manual! Watching people like me online should be “in addition to” the service manual, not “instead of" the service manual. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@TomAsay64 Tom, thanks for this video. It was extremely helpful for me to understand the rebuild process. You are brave for using a power tool to remove the screws on your carbs as I have stripped a screw during my rebuild process already lol! (Anyone reading this - make sure you purchase a set of JIS screw drivers for this rebuild!) I was going to say that you are indeed missing the straw. Randakk has a blog post on where it goes and why it is needed. Just search "gl1100 accelerator channel straw".
