A V6 Frontier is what Tacoma used to be. Keep it that way and people want it. A Turbo 4 hydrid is today's Tacoma is, please don't go that route. People who needs a mid size truck doesn't really care about the 2mpg difference. If they do, they'll buy a Prius. What they really care about is 300k miles problem free.
@Dguallpa98Күн бұрын
I like your logic, and wishful thinking. But I think you’re asking too much for a vehicle to go 300k miles and be trouble free? Only the Land Cruiser is engineered to go that far but mostly other brands are not. I have 2008 Toyota FJ Cruiser and although it has 218k miles it hasn’t been trouble free.
@kagu6856Күн бұрын
@@Dguallpa98 :) my standard for trouble free is pretty low, as long as there is no major engine or tranny issue, I'll be happy. I don't think any of the turbo engines will be that reliable, although they are much more reliable than 15 years ago.

At the moment, I think I'd like to either see the Ridgeline become beefier looking, perhaps based on the new Passport coming out next year, OR another truck that's beefier. The current Ridgeline doesn't have the design that appeals to me at the moment.

So far the only fuel efficient hybrid truck is the Maverick. So yes, there’s absolutely a place for a hybrid Frontier. I think it would be a hit. But can they get it to market before one of the other manufacturers. We’ll see. Would love to see Honda quality and performance in the full-size truck/suv market. Its going to be interesting watching this unfold. Happy Holidays!

At the end of 2025, Telo will start delivering compact electric trucks to customers. The Telo truck is the length of a 2-door Mini Cooper (152 inches long) with 10 inches of ground clearance, a 1600 lb payload, and can tow 6600 lbs. Telo will have a dry curb weight of 4400 lbs (GVWR over 6000 lbs) and an 8-foot bed with the mid gate down. The compact Telo will have a 106 Kilowatt hour battery and a range of 260-350 miles. When this truck is revealed to the world, it will attract people to the compact truck. Unfortunately, these vehicles will start with low production numbers, but there are future plans for a variety of compact vehicles based on this chassis. I don't think big vehicles will be as desirable once this truck hits the market. Toyota waited too long to bring a compact truck to market, and the Maverick will have the advantage of high volume production.

The Suzuki Equator I bought a couple of weeks ago has 225k miles on it and runs and drives amazingly. Previous owner(s) did zero maintenance. I just serviced the rear differential. Was like mud inside. I want to try to get it to 300k miles. Even if it dies tomorrow, that was one well built truck.

I hope there won't be any more pickups manufactured for soft soy-boys. Honda should stick to what they're good at (cars, minivans), and Nissan should take notes. Neither company has the length or girth to manufacturer pickups.

If they make a smaller truck, that would be the hybrid. Both of these companies still have a V6. And I think would be used across their mid to large size vehicle. One V6 to rule them all i guess.

The concept of a naturally aspirated V6 Hybrid Frontier is intriguing to me in a North/South conventional layout. Perhaps a transfer case that is an electric motor by default with current mechanical level of function, or a centerline mounted electric motor to drive the rear wheels until electrical/battery capacity is expended. Both options utilizing a conventional drive shaft and rear axles. Just throwing sh*t at the wall/thinking out loud.

This means Honda will have “Real” pick up by merging with Nissan? Keeping the Frontier with a timing chain, and not a Ridgeline with a timing belt. If the merger occurs, I’ll never own a pickup with a turbo. Too many future problems if you put any kind of mileage on them. The new Frontier is based on the old one with a few updates. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

I'm not sure about the truck part of this equation.... I think they need to keep the Ridgeline and probably come out with a full size under the Nissan name plate. The Frontier is just so dated and crude... Honda is making a mistake!!! First little bit of info looks like it will take a unique offering. Renault needs to be forced out of the equation!!! The more I sit hear and listen it reminds me of my time working for a Japanese company. Stupidity galore! I'm calling it now... this will lead to the failure of both brands.

My prediction: Mitsubishi will fully exit the US market, allowing Nissan to go even more down-market. Everyone with a credit score over 650 will be sent across the street to Honda. I do not see much of a future for Infiniti. Acura has done a decent job occupying the space Buick held 50 years ago. Infiniti hasn’t been relevant for 20 years.

Honda has a long history of developing and maintaining a solid brand reputation. Quality of any product with a “Honda” emblem is much higher than anything with a Nissan emblem. (At least in the U.S.) I agree with one comment above regarding the Ridge. It’s a great vehicle but it deserves a more robust makeover in line with a true body on frame truck like their off road racing truck. - and without a turbo. I’ve been holding my breath for that one for a while now. Although this merger provides capital, it does nothing for the Honda brand image. It’s too bad Honda couldn’t have made whatever moves it’s going to make on its own….
@padfoo23 сағат бұрын
Not entirely true, Altima vs. Accord the Honda wins every time... However, a vehicle like the Patrol is world-class, especially in its newest release. It has great quality and reliability, Honda doesn't even play in the body on the world of trucks.

@ some of their cars I would. I think the frontier everyone can agree has been a very reliable quality vehicle. I think the Titan was an excellent truck as well even though the 5.6 L V8 did have some major issues long-term. Head gaskets were notorious for going out post 150,000 miles. It’s their little cars that were absolute piles of shit on wheels.
