I bought an NX 500 back in March. In my opinion it's a fantastic bike . For what it is, I cannot fault it in any way. I've got almost 4 thousand kilometres on it now and the engine has smoothened out completely over that time. It just needs awhile to wear in. I did have a 450mt in mind, but decided to see how that bike goes over the next few years. Report's are currently very good, but I want to see how it holds up reliability wise. And of course if it will hold it's value better than previous cfmotos. In fairness Honda know their stuff and there's alot of peace of mind knowing you've got a quality machine for your money. Thanks for your observations on your bike. Very enjoyable watching. 👍

Two things; 1. I love the sound that my 500X makes with its standard exhaust, especially the pops and bangs on the overrun. It’s the best sounding bike I’ve ever had in standard trim. 2. That replacement end can is simply an awkward looking and pig ugly. I know you are simply following a trend but sometimes it’s better to leave alone and to not blindly follow the flock.
@Mrfish20153 ай бұрын
I don’t follow trends , I’ve changed the exhaust on most bikes for over 30 years .. the standard one is uglier that’s why I got rid of it (and weight) everyone likes different things

@@Mrfish2015 That’s you get out of everything line. It’s getting boring. In my opinion the OE exhaust is neat and suits the bike. The replacement is as I said before ugly. It looks really awkward. It’s a trend and you have followed it. A bit like a KZbin trip to Scotland really. Predictable.

Earlier in the year I went for a test ride on both the NX500 and CL500 and I have to admit I didn’t like the NX at all. The CL was a bit better but not by much. After my test ride I had pins and needles in my right foot. I also felt the engine was revving a lot harder than it actually was. I now have a CF Moto 450MT which is a far more exciting bike, a bike that doesn’t give me pins and needles in my right foot. The engine is incredibly smooth and sounds awesome - no after market exhaust required here.

Exciting? Surely that’s subjective. Personally there’s no way I would swap my 500X for a CF Moto 450, I enjoy the dependability and use ability of the Honda. It’s my touring bike and so good at covering big mileages on different surfaces. I’ve got nothing against Chinese bikes by the way I’ve also got a Voge 300 Rally.

I don't understand the loud exhaust thing.......?????? Why take a perfectly quiet bike, that runs well, and waste money on a louder exhaust? I would argue that there is not enough, if any, performance gain to justify the cost. In many cases you lose low to mid range power for some slight increase in top end power where you probably spend less that 1% of your time in the saddle at those high RPMs. The bigger complaint is this, when you ride by houses which are close to the road, maybe children playing in the front yard, people enjoying lunch or dinner at a roadside table, or late at night and driving past homes with their windows open, you are robbing your fellow citizens and neighbors of their peace and quite. It's really narcissistic to simply add a loud exhaust so you can enjoy a sound that annoys other people. Secondly, I would argue that an aftermarket exhaust end can is the biggest waste of money that you can spend on your motorcycle. Windscreens, seats, braided brake lines, and suspension are all areas which improve your motorcycle in way you can feel. I currently have a garage full of bikes, from an NSR250SP to an ST1300, including a 2024 NX500. All of them have stock exhausts. I have changed the pipes on my 2 stoke dirt bikes to effect the power curve, which is a real thing on 2 strokes, but run the stock end can so it doesn't add noise. You didn't buy your CB/NX500 for the power. Your loud end can arguably didn't add any power. In fact you likely lost power in the low to mid range area. So what am I missing about this loud exhaust craze? Is it "look at me" "look at my cool bike" that is driving this craze?

@Mrfish20153 ай бұрын
@@pberardis I get it in certain areas but I also get louder pipes in cities ( extra bit of annoyance helps with not getting knocked off , I’ve tested it over many years 😂) the reason for this one is it sounds better ( deeper ) and looks better in my opinion an is so much lighter so I get the gains there rather than power (easier than a diet 😂) I get how annoying they can be for villages etc and they’re tiring on long journeys , but still no where near as bad as the bmw and Mercedes with those crackling exhausts
