1986 TRX250R, stock carb, boyesen rad valve, k&n filter w/ outerwears, FMF fatty w/ FMF powercore II silencer, maier racing plastics trimmed, stock suspension, 20" front/18" rear RAZR MX's, 14/38 gearing.
In my hometown in Crosby, TX with the first start of the day. Hitting 78mph.

Nice , I just got a 87' Honda 250 fourtra, the sporty version. It has a twist throttle with a DC exhaust that's loud as he'll, ive pissed my neighbor's off already, they've already called the cops lol

+Dustin Lambert, welcome to the R family. I would highly suggest getting a thumb throttle if you plan on doing any technical riding. Having to get off to the side while hitting bumps or ruts could cause you to get into the throttle some Btw, I've got a 363 being built for this. It's under a whole rebuild but will be recorded once the winter is over (Living in Alaska) and I get it broken in.

If you dont let it warm up before riding it you can seize the piston. The different metals in the head and piston warm up at different rates, so if you dont let the motor get to operating temp before riding you could cause whats known as a cold seizure. Ive seen it happen, not trying to be rude just dont want someone to ruin a nice 250r.

Dray, I hear ya. I do that now since I've got a lot more in my build. Justin, I do know with my 344 and 14/36 gears I hit 81 and I wasn't in it all of the way. There's no need for it. Not one place where I ride I'll be hitting that so I dropped it back down to a 13/36. It pulls hard and it's a blast to ride! I haven't clocked it but I'm very happy with it. It's running rich in the pilot but it clears out smoothly and never sputters or anything. Too bad I'm going to be in Alaska come September so I'll need to find some good riding up there.

I asked for a 400ex on my 11th birthday but my dad got me a trx250r instead, I have never wrecked it and can ride it amazingly and yes they are fast and that powerband will scare the sh*t out of you I am now 14 and love it so much I would have to be killed if someone wanted it. My dad saw how much I liked mine so he got one they are both 310cc's now and are extremely fast we have a heck of a lot of fun on them and win almost every race. We then got a 400ex for my mom. She loved that and now she wants a 250 so were looking. Best quad ever built and wouldn't rather have a different one.

If he has never been on a fast quad don't let him near a 250r. These things are stupid fast even for someone who has been riding for a long time. Also for someone that hasn't been on a 2-stroke wont know what to do when it hits the power band and most likely will either come off the back or the front end will walk up and the quad will flip over. If he's just starting off try a something like a 400ex Lots of power and room to grow with mods but still can be a very gentle beast if your safe.

Check out my other videos. You'll see what I've done to it since this one. If you're just joy riding and don't care about the way it performs go with the 86. Mine is the 86. The best for jumping is the 88 and 89. The swingarm is an inch shorter and the a arms are an inch forward. There are a few other things different between the years but this is the biggest concern with them. If you do the 86 you could do just like I did with my build of this one, buy +1 forward arms and an inch shorter swingarm. I've done quite more than that but that puts me with the same weight distribution as the 88/89. For a lot more info, parts for sale and awesome R fanatics, visit/join www.trx250r.org. The description says his is 14/38 with 18 inch in the back,his is probably close to stock gearing,I can't be for sure I don't know the 250r gearing.You have more top end gearing with a smaller rear sprocket.But your 250r is a atc,the weight difference could be the big difference.

No I haven't. I'm from crosby but im military and was stationed in kansas at the time. Since then I did a huge rebuild but I'm currently down because my crank blew up. Now it's ripped apart and getting a gusset kit and other stuff and then I'll powder it again. Back to the track, it's not for atvs. The riding area under Hwy 90 is the type of riding that I grew up with. Now I'm in alaska and due to deploy again soon. So, I'll be doing 450r rear brake and 400ex spindles with 88/89 hubs with yfz calipers. Currently im installing Rock nerfs from a yfz and getting my rear shock rebuilt. Making an aluminum airbox and radiator shrouds as well.

Are you sure? I'm pretty positive they have special track days for ATVs.. When I had my Trx450R I was going to take it but didn't have anyway to get it over there.

250r great quad got an 86 completely redone nothing too crazy done to it had it up to top speed or at least close not sure how fast tho i traded an 05 trx450 for it and like the 250 much better they handle damn near the same ill probly never sell it haha

Honda 450R. Better acceleration. YFZ might have a slightly higher top speed at 78, I got 75 out of my 450R stock.

The YFZ has a higher top speed, Higher acceleration and better handling in both MX and trail riding! The YFZ is better in every aspect to be honest😒the 450r is just a heavy lump of metal.

My 363 I run an LED 350G raw pipe. The ESR TRX5 pipe wouldn't be enough for that motor. The LED is perfection.

LRD Team B here. They're adjustable for low and high end power by lengthening or shortening the expansion chamber. I have yet to see a difference in adjust-ability, however my bore is stock. But its a good pipe if you seal it properly.

My 250 hits right at 89mph my dad has a little bit more mods and gets about 93 so yes these things are extremely fast and don't say they arnt until you've gotten on one and went full speed and when you buy one stock the average speed is 68-70mph

A 250r needs at least a 310 KIT just to beat a banshee that has aftermarket pipes . Then if that banshee gets a big bore kit , then it’s lights out , banshee wins again .yes , u could have a piped banshee and then have a 310cc or more big bore kit on the 250r and it will beat a banshee . Buy stock for stock, banshee wins . Both with big bore kits ? Banshee wins . I have both , and my banshee destroys that 250r . I don’t get why everyone acts like 250r’s are all this or that . U can get almost double the HP out of a built banshee compared to a built 250r. I’d like to meet all these banshee guys u “destroy “ they must not know how to ride for shit . I have both bikes man, and it’s night and day comparison . 250r out handles the banshee 10 to 1 . Buy the banshee has insanely more power , it’s just not even comparable. 250r is made for Mx racing , banshees are made for duning or drag racing. A banshee with a 392 kit (45cc increase with big bore ) , will absolutely walk away from a 330cc 250r . It will destroy the R In stock form too. Maybe you have a built 250r and are racing banshees with stock pipes or something 😂😂😂

I could easily get 80. My rebuild of this one got me 81 without trying much. The thing is, it doesn't matter much to me to do 80. I actually reduced the gear ratio since then. I'd rather have the acceleration and not too much top end. Worth it for me.
