6 speed, fuel gauge and a gear indicator would’ve made this motorcycle a 10! Solid bike tho 🤌🏽

I've got an 1800. The 1300 has great sound with the single pin crank, but my god the power of the 1800 never ceases to amaze me. And only 50 lbs heavier than the 1300. Fuel injection and triple disc interlinked brakes too. Both great bikes.

I was only disappointed about my 1300 one time , when I found out I had to manually adjust the valves and what a hassle it is . I knew I could jump on that bike and ride it anywhere no matter how far and it would get me home .

I've never had any regrets owning a 1300 VTX. It's about one of the best bikes I've ever owned. I've had 750 Shadows, and an 1100 Shadow and this one feels pretty much the same. The valve adjustment is easy and you can just about do it with your eyes closed, so it's not an issue and it's not that often either. Going from a 750 to the 1300 may be a significant change as far as weight, but between my 1100 and this one, I don't feel much difference, except for more power. I mostly bought it for more room for my wife and all our luggage for on long trips. If the 1100 was a little bigger, I'd still be riding it. That was a great bike too!

@@spanky522 I rode with a VTX group and went to the vtx home coming they used to have and met hundreds of VTX riders but everyone I met always thought the valve adjustment was a hassle . Its not complicated to do just a pain in the butt .
@spanky5225 жыл бұрын
I guess that's why I always did my research before I bought a bike. I already knew the valves need to be adjusted periodically so I was prepared for that. There is also a year where they have an electric fuel pump, so I avoided that year when looking for a used one. I already know that Hondas have poor fuel pumps that are known to fail, so I avoided that. There are those of us who do their own maintenance, so it's no big deal to do the proper upkeep. Then there are those who take their bike to a shop or dealer to get the work done, then complain about the cost of upkeep. I have some friends of mine who even take their bikes to a dealer to that the oil changed (simple task that takes about 15 minutes) Some things are a "hassle" for some people, are just routine maintenance for others I guess. Adjusting valves is a small price to pay to enjoy a great ride I figure.

@@spanky522Yeah done my own too , twice a year on valves . I rode the tar out of that bike about 9000 miles a year . If there wasn't ice on the roads I was riding . Looking for another one next year . The prices on used VTX with extremely low miles are cheap $3 grand for a X with under 10,000 miles and often with aftermarket up grades .

Ya, I wanted one of the older 1300 VTXs with a carburetor so I could do my own jetting. The new ones are fuel injected (and kinda ugly) and need to be reprogrammed to do any jetting changes (I'm old school) I bought my '04 for $4000 with 25,000 just like new with a Mustang seat already on it, so I didn't have to deal with the stock seat the everyone complains about. I've done some mods to mine already too. Like gut the stock mufflers (sounds great and was easy to rejet) handlebar risers, after market batwing fairing with stereo, and a great pair of saddlebags. I'm going to also install some grip heaters under the stock grips for those long colder rides. I had them on my 1100 Shadow and they work great! I'm going to really enjoy some long trips on this one!

Great bikes but the 1800 had a awful robotic sound. It didn't have a single pin crank like the 1300. 1300 sounds a LOT better.

@ Rizea Alexander. p.s. I apologize...were you saying your bike got COVID-19 and that's why you can't ride ??? I hope she gets better soon...usually Honda's don't get sick...but I can imagine how painful and difficult that must be. Maybe take the mask off the air intake...might help.
