KL is not boring. It’s perfect for nature lovers or those seeking a balance between city life and nature. Activities such as hiking, waterfall searching, jungle trekking, river rafting, canopy walks, and picnicking can be enjoyed within an hour’s distance from the city center or even within the city itself. For example, you can reach Genting Highlands in about an hour to experience cooler weather and visit the casino / theme park on the hill. Unlike Bangkok, Kuala Lumpur’s city planning is decentralized. There are several satellite cities like Petaling Jaya, Subang Jaya, and Putrajaya, which can be reached by commuter trains. These areas offer a standard of living comparable to, or even better than, Kuala Lumpur’s. So, if your experience in Kuala Lumpur has been limited to just the central or business district that primarily attracts tourists, you might have only seen a small part of what the city has to offer. After spending a month in Kuala Lumpur, you might want to consider a second visit to explore these other areas and experience a broader range of what the city has to offer.

Malaysia isn’t the place for wild nightlife, clubbing, or heavy drinking. It’s more of a family-friendly destination where you can truly enjoy quality time with your loved ones, making memorable and happy moments together. If you're craving lively entertainment and want to indulge in a bit of fun, places like Thailand or Bali in Indonesia are perfect. They offer a variety of activities for those looking to have a good time and experience vibrant nightlife. However, if you’re focusing on family bonding and want a more laid-back vacation, Malaysia is the spot. It’s full of diverse food options, hidden gems, and relaxing beaches and islands, making it ideal for a peaceful and enjoyable family getaway. That’s my take on it. Thanks for reading!

When people say that Malaysia is "boring" they are usually referring to the night life in comparison to Thailand which can get really crazy at times because Thailand is known for its red-light districts in Pattaya.

KL, no matter how "liberal" is still a muslim dominated city and most are recent transplants into the urban/suburban way of life. There are some "vibrancy" if one knows where to look. And of course, avoid police checks/raids (haha). For me, KL today is like Singapore in the late 1980s and early 1990s - relatively safe, clean, kinda-modern, lacking in soul or personality. The cultural offering is paltry unless one considers temples, mosques and churches as "fun" (these aren't the Hagia Sofia, Notre Dame or Gold Buddha Temple, etc). The National Museum is small (despite the new satellite buildings), terribly dated, and the exhibits are more for academics and school kids. Thankfully there are English translations! The zoo is too far away for easy access. The Science center is at best a spot for school kids. The many public gardens are poorly planned as most fail to consider human visitors ... who wants to walk under the blazing late morning or afternoon sun in high humidity. Yup, no notable art galleries to speak of (and the private ones are through word of mouth and $$). But there is always affordable good food, and air-conditioned shopping malls to escape the heat/humidity. After a while, these malls all look the same ... you go through a number of them, and they all look the "same". And there is only so much of window shopping one wants to do on a daily basis. For me a 2-3 week stay in KL is more than enough ... a nice place for a simple easy going urban recharge before I head back to a more dynamic cosmopolitan lifestyle.

Definitely there are lots of interesting things one can do here in KL and in Malaysia, but if you are looking for wild partying like in Bangkok, then you are at the wrong place. Looking through the video, I am surprised that all you did is just going around KLCC and limited places around there, and very quickly and in a rash manner you summed up that KL is a boring place. I think KL is not suitable for boring people like you, who doesn't know how to find interesting places to go. KL and Selangor and other places around in Malaysia has a lot of interesting places to go, such as amusement park, water parks, bird parks, zoo, muzium, going a little further, you will find reserved forest, Cameron Highlands, and then Genting Highland, Malaysia's one and only legal casino (it also has theme parks for children and a premium shopping outlet) etc. Kuala Lumpur also has interesting night life but of course not in the extent like Bangkok, one can smoke weeds in Bangkok, but it's illegal in Malaysia. Going further from Kuala Lumpur, one can explore Malacca, a historical city and Penang too. About the walkability in KL, you are seriously at the wrong place, most expats don't live in KL, they are in Mont Kiara, Desa Park City, and those places have very good environment for you to walk for the whole day. I would like to sum up that Malaysia is more suitable for families and retiring people, those who likes clean living, not so suitable for young people who likes a crazy lifestyle. So if one do not even bother to explore and quickly sum up this way shows that you are not suitable for Malaysia, just go elsewhere because we are not interested having too many foreigners here.

Dear digital nomads, please go to Singapore or Bangkok. There are already too many foreigners here, including legal & illegal. Too many foreigners residing in a country could negatively impact the local population. Thank you.

What Malaysia do not want is illegal immigrants and overstayers. Digital nomads are important for the Malaysian economy. When COVID shut down the causeway in Johor, many small and medium size business went bankrupt because most of their patrons are foreigners. The same scenario can be said for KL which is known for shopping centers and private hospitals that cater to tourists.

SG does not give out digital nomad visas. Malaysia you can be number 1 for once , cos SG is not competing with you.

Once you finished your adventure around south east Asia...please come to Malaysia to rest..we are pretty laid-back... Edit: please get a car, it will help you a lot. Public transportation is ok but having a car will definitely get you far.

BKK is a cultural arts classic and modern blended city. The blends made it very vibrant and lively. But the problem is it's cheap. It's also a luxury city. That explain why the tourist population is huge there. KL is boring is a popular term. No fun attractions such as river cruises or cable car nor ferris wheel and lack of museums. No culture. Yes multi culture that is actually not mixing each other. KL still a dry city despite the trees
