What a lovely video ! I live in northeast PA and we have an abundance of mushrooms this year . Your way of cooking honeys is the same as we have in Poland where I spent my youth . Foraging for mushrooms used be my after school activity.😊

Hello Polish neighbor! We are of the same Slavic blood and our food is so similar.

I grew up in NePa and my grandpa and uncle picked these mushrooms every year too! They called them Popinkis. I now live in NC and I'm so thrilled to have found TONS of honeys this year.

I harvested my first ever mushroom yesterday and ate it today, and it was a delicious honey mushroom! I was so scared to get it wrong but I was just very careful about the identifiers and the lookalikes and I'm so glad I finally gave it a go :)

I love mushrooms but have always been afraid to forage for them. It would be fun to find a local group to join to learn.

What if they're growing about 10 ft away from where an old stump used to be (we sawed it out of the ground) i'm wondering if the mushrooms i found are honey mushrooms, possibly getting nutrients from the rotting roots of the tree
@lulishomestead67672 жыл бұрын
I was taught that honey mushrooms do not grow on the ground, but around the trees. There are look a likes that are poisonous.

They do grow on trees and stumps, I just been in a forest with at leat 200-300 full of armilaria galleria on the ground and on dead trees fallen and stumps and melea all over oak bases, beech, birch pine the lot. Some trees had 10 large clusters all up the stem

Are they deadly if eaten raw. ??? I’m worried about my dogs eating them. I have a ton of these in my backyard
@МаксимРешетняк-б8д Жыл бұрын
Don't worry, they are safe for the dog. The worst that could be some stomach upset.
