I don’t understand how this beanie can fit a baby and an adult with the same stitches around. Only difference is rows. Am I missing something?
@CrochetWithTiffany Жыл бұрын
That is a great question Tina. It’s all about the increase rows at the beginning. You increase stitches per row until you get the crown size to be dimensional to the age of the individual (which is found from a chart showing average size dimension of head per age range). Once you have met the correct size for crown dimension or crown diameter you just work on the sides of the beanie to form down the head. Lengths of the beanie will differ based on how a person likes to wear the beanie. I hope this helps Tina! 😊🧶❤️

@CrochetWithTiffany Жыл бұрын
Hmm, I’d double check the size of the yarn and crochet hook you are using. That is a pretty significant shrink. The pattern I have linked to the video tutorial actually breaks down EVERY size beanie from 0-3 month through Adult. It’s a free pattern too! I highly recommend you print that out and use it as a reference along with my video to get the size you want. I hope all this helps and that you are able to make baby their beanie. 😊❤️🧶

Wow I totally messed up :( I misread the crochet hook size and I used a 6.5 hook and 5 oz. yard. The stitches are way to far apart and holy. This was going to be for my 6 year old grandson. Obviously I'm a new crocheter. Do you think I can retry with the same 5 oz yard and use a 4.5 or 5 size hook? I love the pattern.
@CrochetWithTiffany3 жыл бұрын
Hi Joni Ok, if you are going to use a different yarn and a different crochet hook then I used in the tutorial you will want to use this beanie sizing chart as a guide and a measuring tape. pin.it/2azc1IF. You will work the top increasing rows until you have reached the desired hat width. Then work as many rows as it takes to get the desired length. Work the ear flaps very similarly as well. I hope this helps. 😊🧡🧶

What’s the head sizes for toddler and child? I have a 3 1/2 yo grandson I want to make one for but want to make sure it’s not too small. His head circumference is 19.5”
@CrochetWithTiffany3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tina! I just measured out the two size beanies. The Toddler beanie measures a 20 inch circumference and the Child size beanie measures a 21 inch circumference. And that is not accounting for the amount of give that the beanies have also. So it's completely up to you. I might just go ahead and make the Toddler Size Beanie for him and that should last him about 2 years. Hope this helps! 😊🧶🧡

Hi. I made the toddler size with an H hook and it fits my head. No way will it fit my grandson. Very easy pattern.

Can i make this with a number 5 yarn?
@CrochetWithTiffany3 жыл бұрын
Hi Emily and Elliott! You absolutely could make this beanie with a size 5 yarn but you would need to adjust the pattern to accommodate for the larger size yarn. I’m not certain but you could probably get away with using my Toddler size beanie tutorial with the size 5 yarn and it should fit a Child size head. If anything check out the beanie sizing chart I have in my Pinterest board under Charts and use a measuring tape to make sure you make dimension requirements for the beanie. That helps me a lot. 😊❤️🧶

@CrochetWithTiffany3 жыл бұрын
Hi Tracey! If you are making this beanie for a 4 yr old then they will be right between sizes. The youngest age for the child size beanie. The child size beanie will provide growing room. What age is this child size hat for?
@CrochetWithTiffany Жыл бұрын
Great question! This size is for child age 4 - 11 years old. The younger the child the looser the beanie, the older the child the more snug the beanie will be. The acrylic yarn used had an amazing comfortable stretch that makes it great for a child who may have a larger or small size head and potential for growing room. 🤗🧡🧶

You seem to have rounding of the cap in the 3rd round itself. I did exactly what you do but do not get rounding in 3rd round. Also the cap is too big ....when I make it.
@CrochetWithTiffany3 жыл бұрын
Hi Nisha! It’s absolutely ok if your circle does not round in row 3. That could be different for everybody. Great to acknowledge! These beanies do run pretty roomy. If you would like to make your beanie a little smaller or tighter you can always omit the last row of increases. Or make the next size down. 😉❤️🧶
@alexellefson99258 ай бұрын
Not sure why but this beanie turned out huge, way too big for my 5 year olds head but fits me (I have kind of a large head).
@CrochetWithTiffany8 ай бұрын
This beanie does run a little big. It's meant to have a comfortable fit not be a tight fitting skull cap. There are also variables such as the thickness of the yarn you are using and the tension of your stitches that could come into play. If you would like, you can always make the next size down to see if that beanie fits the way you like. 😊❤️🧶

When you are watching the video, on the bottom right side of the video if you move your mouse over the video a little gear will show up. Push on the gear, click on Playback Speed, and the smaller the number the slower the video will go. IF you are watching from your phone or tablet you will click on the 3 little dots in the upper right hand corner, click on Playback speed, and again the smaller the number the slower the video. Everything was going swell until i got to the 11-15 rows. The first one i got 70 stitches instead of 64 🧌
@CrochetWithTiffany10 ай бұрын
Hmmm, I've had this happen before myself. Without undoing your work, go back through your rounds and count how many stitches are in each of them. Start with the very first top beginning rounds so you can spot where the count got off and know how far back you have to go. I've actually made the mistake of starting the very first round with an extra stitch and had to go all the way to the beginning to correct it. It happens, at least it's not a super big project. I've found what works best for me to stay on track is to count the number of stitches I have in like round 3 or 4, and then count how many stitches I have in every 3rd round just to double check that I am on track. This helps squash anything that might be a miss before it gets super far in the project. I hope this helps! You got this!!
