I love the fact this build was inspired by the lore in Initial D about Takumi being told dads car could rev to 11k
@carcaineproblems683110 ай бұрын
I was waiting for some deep and scientific reason for the 11k redline. Then he just said "Initial D" and I just smiled in happiness. To think that an anime could spark this much passion into a build is insanely epic.
@computer1up9 ай бұрын
Iirc the 11k engine in Takumi’s AE86 was supposed to be an engine that’s usually not found in road cars. I remember some dialogue where Bunta was asked something like “how did you get this? This shouldn’t exist anymore” so I thought it implied that that specific engine came from an official racing team.

It's built for SEMA, so power is irrelevant. It's all about novelty.
@DillonShelburn10 ай бұрын
@@sepg5084 not just SEMA, but Taka mentioned it being a street car, and a culmination of a lot of his previous chassis/parts being used for this. Power is definitely one of the more sought after things among many builders. That’s why I mentioned how much I appreciate the fact that they didn’t pursue that, and pursued character of the car instead.

@DillonShelburn Unfortunately N/A builds at this level (ITBs, big cams, high comp pistons etc.) actually make it a terrible street car. N/A is glorious but it's a lot of money and drawbacks to get beat by half the displacement and a turbo

Keep living the dream Taka-san and keep building this car as the amazing daily driver you envisioned it to be. A lot of these JDM vehicles are now high in cost not only due to the gain in popularity but also by how horribly people trashed them over the years when they were cheaper to avail to the point that loved and daily drived JDMs are sight for sore eyes as they are so less now.

2005 Formula D: Round 2- Atlanta, GA: Taka Aono AE86 vs Samuel Hubinette Viper To me, this is still one of the best moments in the history of Formula Drift. It's one for the history books. Going head to head, the judges could not decide the winner so they said to run it "One More Time" as they do. After going a second time, the judges could not decide the winner so once again they said, "One More Time" which was the first time in Formula Drift's history to run 3 times. After 3 times, the judges actually wanted them to run a 4th time, but unfortunately after running 3 times, Taka Aono was forced to withdraw from the competition because his AE86 had overheated due to too many consecutive runs, not enough time to cool down. After this in 2006, Formula Drift created the points system for each run and the Sudden Death rule which prevented going a 4th time. First 2 Runs: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqTEqHqBg754qck Final Run: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pqTEqHqBg754qck Taka Aono is a legend in my book and I would love to chat with him specifically about this drift battle.
