I did car sales for around 2.5 years from 2006-08. It was just a small dealership but we did have some characters and adventures. One sales manager would go buy Mickey's Big Mouth on a Friday or Saturday night and we would drink them right before the store closed. Eventually he ended up wrecking his demo vehicle. A couple sales guys were arrested at the dealership for not paying child support and another for taking a gas ticket and filling up someone's gas tank. We also had a compulsive liar who would just make up stories about how much money he had, the big boat he owned, and how many houses he had. We even had 2 sales people get in a fight in the parking lot! As crazy as it could be sometimes, it was a fun place to work and I did meet some very nice people.

Every minute of this video made me think of the 3 years I worked at a particular Suzuki car dealer. I was a tech at this dealer with a crazy drug-fueled sales team, and a have bunch of good stories about things that occurred with the assistance of cocaine, pills, and heroin in one case. Some other neat stuff happened with crazy customers, cash-for-clunkers, philandering co-workers and so on. I've been at a superb family owned single franchise dealer for 8 years and nothing like that happens there, but at least I have the memories like Hoovie here.

What's great about this story is. It doesn't matter where you live in the country. This stuff happens at EVERY car dealership. Its awesome. I worked at a retail ford store in NJ late 90s-early 2000s. And the cast of characters and stories are endless. I sold a demo once (not mine) And the customer found panties and an empty vodka bottle under the seat when they got home in their "brand new" vehicle. And someone (usually a manager) is always after the receptionist. Always. Its truly creepo central.

Sums up the car business very accurately. We had a salesman who would dissappear for weeks after he had a great months. He sold 28.5 cars one month and on the 1st was gone for 9 weeks then just showed up again like he had been just destroyed.

Loved this story! I work at a Chevy dealer myself and it's funny how the environment is the same everywhere you go. Can't wait to go back to college to finish my Masters, though.
