This video is brilliant. I am a stage 3 cervical cancer patient who is experiencing kidney problems. The Urologist explained what my kidney issues are. This video really helps explain what he described was happening to my kidneys. Thank you for posting this series,

What is the longivity if a person chooses not to get dialysis. When getting dialysis how much does it prolong life? I am 76 years old and have other health issues reducing the quality of life

I have Pernicious Anemia so I have blood levels tested frequently. My eGFR usually tests at >60 but my last test (Sept 2021) it had gone down to 47!! Creatinine is in range but high end at 1.17 (I'm 62) I'm surprised my doctor said nothing to me about this. Lately, I've had a dull ache on my left side, radiating to my left back. Am I wrong to worry? Not sure what to do now. I have a doctor's appointment in two weeks and I will definitely be bringing it up with him, but in the meantime I'm panicking.

7:13 true. Never knew anything was wrong with my kidney until I went for a routine test, preparatory to trying keto diet. Ultra sound showed up the problem. Nothing in blood test. One kidney nearly filled up by a growth/cyst? The kidney was surgically removed. What I did wrong to reach there, I've no idea. The remaining kidney was fine. Last week, diagnosed with diabetes, at 574 pretty high. Put on insulin, slowly coming down each day. Not yet below 110. I'm now a bit more concerned. I'm 62. Thank you for the informative talk. Was searching for what I could safely eat.. doing least harm to myself. With one kidney, am I to consider myself a kidney patient? Want to opt for defensive eating.

I am Stage 4 of CKD. My Nephrologist has recommended a "salt free diet" and less intake of fluids (40 oz) a day. I asked about a dietician and he said "no diet will help, I am too far gone" Give me your opinion. Should I ask my Primary Dr for a referral to a dietician?. I am now on a plant-based plan and I have already lost 9 lbs (likely mostly water. I am obese so I know I need to drop some of this excess weight.

I usually get a second opinion and third opinion if necessary. What you will find is each doctor will probably tell you something different and some of what they say will be the same based on test. Your health is very important. Most good doctors don't mind a patient getting another opinion.

Your looking in the wrong place. After alot of research recently the current intuitive thinking is correct gut dysbiosis -oxalate overload and the gradual build up of calcium oxalate making 80%of kidney stones is probably the main driver in most forms of kidney disease etc or the last syptpm when it's wrecked other organs, oxalate poisoning 😀 in my case masked as back pain stenosis a missed diagnosis exacerbated by high glucose fructose and then causes min phosphorous imbalances etc
