I was staying in a relative's basement one summer, and my living space was invaded by yellowjackets. I never found the nest, but since the entire basement had cinder block walls and an unfinished ceiling, I suspect it was outside the building. My way of dealing with the infestation was to hang fly paper next to every light source. I caught hundreds of yellowjackets that way, as they would fly to the light, get their wings caught, and react by trying to sting the fly paper, getting themselves hopelessly stuck. I'm not sure if someone else found the nest, or if my methods just trapped enough of them to cause a population crash, but I never saw another yellowjacket in that basement after that summer.

I've seen honeybee removal videos where they use infrared cameras & sensors to locate hives, as the bees' movement creates hot spots. I'm curious if they'd work for locating wasp nests as well, or if the paper vs wax, different orientation, and paper around the comb makes it pointless. Obviously the listening works for you, but have you tried an IR camera just to see if it does help?

This is great! I've dealt with these boogers my entire life, but bartending outside at a golf course in the Tahoe region had me puzzled. Apparently, after cold temperatures (45 Degrees and lower), the queen stops laying eggs, and the "workers", or meat bees as most people call them, start their mission to survive - on carbs; like sodas and such - and they become devils ( aggressive assholes)... So after some research, and bites and stings, and watching them go into every cocktail I made, especially with cranberry juice, I made a concoction of cranberry juice in a plastic cup with a lid that their bodies could barely fit in, and they are greedy and couldn't climb out.... Genius, I am... I trapped about 400 YJ's/Wasps? in about four hours, in ONE 16 oz cup.... BUT, that was at 7000 feet, and I think they are tougher in the mountains than in 70 degree weather all year... because I had those fuckers at my bar in 40 degree weather, with sun. (that was ANOTHER great video) I'd love to learn more about these beneficial insects (They killed ALL the mosquitos last year, and only a few snobby golfers complained because they hit their ball(S) in the trees in the forest!). These are powerfully beneficial insects, and I'd love to learn how to channel their energy for the sake of agriculture, and my god kids (who are allergic). And I am not sure how I feel about "trapping" the queens in the spring.... Any thoughts on my rant, King?

I had just sold my apartment, when it dawned on me there must be a wasp nest in the roof space above my bedroom. I had spotlights set into the ceiling, and every time I had to change a bulb a few wasps would drop down and fly around the room - a dead giveaway they'd set up home up there. I guess I should have told the couple who bought my place, before they moved in. But they'd been such a pain in the ass, arguing about every last detail of the purchase, I decided against. In fact I disliked them so much, on my final exit from the apartment before they moved in, I was tempted to poke the nest repeatedly with a shitty stick! I often wonder how big that nest got before those cheapskates paid a 'Hornet King' to take care of it...

If I were an exterminator, I wouldn't be feeding the comb to animals. I'd pile them up and jump into them like autumn leaves. Because I am weird.

I believe there's a reason behind wasp nests having two queen cavities: The first one for the queen that started the colony to live in and the second for the wasp to become to live in until it's time for her to take the first one's place

Oh, turkeys are wonderful pets. As a child, we had ducks and two turkeys that had a fenced terrain in the garden. They all had their wing feathers shortened so they can't fly off. But the big turkeys still could pass over everything. Whenever someone came in the garden with feed, the two turkeys would fly over the fence to greet us and accompany us to the feeding place. Very cool animals, I always hated when we slaughtered the lifestock.

I’ve got a nest in my wall adjacent to my bathroom. The tub is right where the nest is and that interior wall has tile on it 🙄. Not sure what approach I’m going to do to get rid of them yet

I literally took a video of a bee or a wasp (I'm not you LOL) doing something weird on my new deck because of the interest I have in this stuff. Was pretty cool (throbbing and green stuff on the ends of it). Never seen that before. Keep up the great videos and work.

I have been removing dry wall to find a yellow jacket nest. It turns out that the nest is wrapped around the window framing. Most of the treatment I was putting in just barely getting to the wasps. This was in a second floor bathroom wall / window frame, so most of the insecticide i used was rubbing alcohol with dish soap, so it could evaporate before it got to the first floor ceiling. This is good video.

you can easily mount a phone to the vacuum tube, a light as well. amazon has some great head lamp light that are great & always point where youre looking. they have head mount cameras too, ive been asking myself for years why he keeps holding the camera & light when there are so many low cost options for hands free operations.
