I have a 5 gal bucket with holes in the bottom of it & it's in my 110 gal stock tank that I put my Hornwort in & it's in a goldfish pond so it's protected & it's growing like wild weed, my stock tank is SO CLEAR it's crazy how great it does in a bucket in a stock tank, the holes are a 1/2 in & like 10-15 at the very bottom for water flow.

Heck yea friend it grows like crazy and propagation is as simple as breaking in half and throwing it in next tank thanks for watching!

@@CasualAquatics Yea but the goldfish & carp was eating it so I had to put it in a 5 gal bucket with 1/2 inch holes for water flow & now that they can't get to it it's doing a lot better & I have a 30 gal long tank that when I can get me some kind of OTHER fish that won't eat my plants I'll put them in it but not sure what fish I want to put in there do you have any Ideas I could do?

Being that its able to act as a rapid response to toxic extremes and that its one of the first to show signs of deficiency its a worth while addition if kept small as it will give your habitat the ability to be adapted to increases in bio load which is good if you have inhabitants that are breeding......!

Have a question about your Polycarbonate Tank Covers -- what thickness are they ? I see on Amazon there is 3 different thicknesses. The lowest being 0.16, I don't want to get anything that will be very flimsy, Thanks in advance....

Im havin major string algae...im thinking of removing my frogbit because the algae is stifling the roots and killing it. Then leave zero live plants for a month, the add anubias, flame jave moss and java fern. I waa thinking of letting hornwort float and soak up any nutrients that caused the algae, then toss it before adding the other plants because i dont want the hornwort blocking out light or eating all the nitrates...how does that sound?

@CasualAquatics no on both...I'm really at a loss. I've been spending so much time on my 55g getting 6 new plants all at once today...unexpectedly early. Perhaps I've neglected it a bit lately. I'm gonna trash the frogbit, get java ferns and flame java moss like in my 55g and add some anubias. I think I can do a decent little aquascape with just those plants and driftwood/stones/caves. All almost wanna throw in some hornwort to soak up the nitrates before I add those other plants

Should I throw away the frogbit, do an algae cleanse again, and go without plants for a month to make sure it's cleaned out? Then start adding java fern, moss, anubias?

No! Terrestrial plants are different from aquatic not to mention the chemical compounds you could poison your fish.

No there column feeders most people float them but you can put under driftwood and such. To appear planted but never herd of it killing them

My hornwort plants do not like to be planted or weighed down in any way. They like it best to be left alone as floating. Too bad.

I bought hornwort and it didn't like to be right under the water so I let it float. It really liked this - so I let it do its own thing and just trim bits off as necessary if it gets too much. My fish like to hide in and under it so everyone's happy.

I just watched a video saying that Hornwort will release chemicals to kill competing plants... my other plants are having problems since it was added, maybe because they're hogging nutrients, but its definitely not a lighting issue

aaand duck weed and frogbit. Just keep the frogbit dry on it's top leaves or it will die.
