Did a bit of research on this guy. Big mistake. The worst thing I found wasn't centered about Doyle here, but he played a hand in it. To make a long story short, a woman that had been diagnosed postpartum psychosis became obsessed with Doyle and took his word as gospel. Her husband ignored his wife's deteriorating mental state, including her saying the God wanted their baby. The next morning she took a knife to her 10 month old daughter and cut her arms off, killing her in the process. Police came responded to a call, and found her rocking the child, covered in blood, and singing Christian hymns. She was found not guilty by reason of insanity and was placed in an asylum. Davidson attracts people that are genuinely unwell, then makes them worse with his unhealthy fervour. He's a genuine menace.

That's religion in general. Most people who flock to religion are desperate for something. Whether it's something as helpful as a reason to live or something as harmless as an answer to life after death. However, the more desperate you are, the more vulnerable you are. And not every religious leader is a good person. Some are cult leaders who will abuse kids or kill their congregation or what have you. But some are genuinely good people who have a good influence and help their community.

I told my friend at school that I wasn't religious and they couldn't handle it so they kept telling me for the rest of the day that I can still be saved if I give my faith to God in the most aggresive way possible. Then after I said that another kid at my school accused me of trying to convince him that god wasn't real. I only said I didn't believe in god and that I'm not religious but that turned everyone against me. I understand not all christians are like this so don't get the idea that I'm saying that at all. I have another christian friend who didn't have a problem with it at all. I can accept religious people. I've met people like that from many religions. Most of them were christian and muslims, the two most common religions around here. The christians immediately went to scare tactics, told me that God will put me in hell for not believing in him, when I asked why I should worship some egocentric asshole who can't handle if someone doesn't blindly believe in him they didn't have anything to counter except that I'd definitely burn in hell for calling their precious god an egocetric asshole. My Muslim friends just were confused, told me that it made them sad that I couldn't see their gods beauty and were like "you'll find god sooner or later" and kept blabbing on and on and on about how god is this and god is that and not believing in god was the devil tryna trick me and shit like that. Less scare tactics, still equally as annoying. Same, I've been raised in a religious family and I love all the teaching my family gave me, but I can't stand how ignorant people can be, many times instead of giving a hand to help people the church and the one's that inhabit it are actually pointing everyone's mistakes, that's not how you attract people to your point of view, hell, that's not how god and Jesus spoke to the people, Jesus were humble, compassionate and cared for everyone, even the ones that society chooses to depict as not even human. The last time I came to a church the message was almost like "you're going to hell if you keep having depression", while the message was actually about not feeling sorry and making excuses to not be doing something (which is a great message), the guy started to talk about depressed people as if they wanted to be like this and were just too lazy to get the hang of their lives, and that's how you make a lot of young, and even older people that have depression to just give if they're already on the verge of giving up

I'm a believer and follower of God, but I 100 percent agree with you on the fact that it's quite annoying to deal with people who take peoples money from their donations and tithes, and do personal things with it. The money should be used to better the community (not just the church, but everything around us) and go towards helping others, not getting some self righteous "Christian" high on the love for God everyone has but him. Keep in mind that tithes doesn't need to go to the church, it needs to go where God wants it to go. You could personally donate the money if you feel that God wants you to, but whats important is that it's what God would want you to do. It's a shame what people consider being a Christian to be these days.

as someone who has a family member with dementia and Alzheimer's, I can assure you this man is suffering from it. My grandmother was the kindest soul her whole life, no swear words, never drank, donated her time and money, until she wasn't.
